FWIW ... Seafoam is great ... but that .. "BK-44"" .. stuff is what a lot of dealers use and is great too.

Just Seafoamed my Taco with 180k on it...not too much smoke, but the oil came out dirty as hell. Truck runs a little smoother, but that could be due to a number of things I fixed all at once.

So after a heated discussion between my father and brother about this product. They both advised me to steer away from it. My dad's final statement was "Its your truck, and its your problem if you mess it up." , brother said he has seen many of his friends use it and it either 1. hydro-locks the motor or 2. eat up the gaskets. Now im nowhere near a mechanical expert, but from most of the post ive read on this thread, they project mainly positive results, IF you do it correctly. I recently replaced my fuel filter and dumped a whole can of another product(forgot the name). But it was based on the same principle as Seafoam. I guess im looking for someone to ease my conscience about the product after hearing my brother and dad bash it making it sound like a terrible idea. At the same time I dont want to royally fuck up my engine either.

(BK-44, was the original product I dumped in)

Only way to hydro-lock the motor would be to like stuff the vacuum hose into the container to suck up the seafoam without easing it in. Gotta let the motor sip it rather than gulp it. No experience with gasket eating...my truck leaked before I seafoamed it, but it doesn't leak any worse now. I used it on a rotary that didn't leak and it still didn't leak afterwards..

I just ran about 1/3 can through my brake booster line on my 97 3.4 v6 and there is an undeniable improvement in power . I am very impressed and I will continue using this product in all my vehicles .

:DOk so I read every one of the posts here on seafoem and will have to order some and try it as I cant find any in canada at any auto stores. But I have one OR two more question that is not vary clear when using the seafoem from what I have read on this post.
What kind is the stuff you use in the break boost line ? I s it the spray kind or a liquid you can poor into a cup ?
And allso is it fine to have the motor running and let it suck the air into the break boost line when letting it suck the sea foem up ? and also how do you do it slowly as I keep reading. Do you just let it suck a little then let it suck a bunch of air and then a bit of seafoem untill the 1/3 is gone ?
    Thanks again
    Steve

the liquid you pour into a cup. use a funnel with an extremely small end. pour slowly and consistently until the third is gone and then cut the engine by choking it with a big gulp of seafoam. air entering the line is going to be inevitable so it's okay but remember that it is bypassing the air filter and basically getting directly to the cylinders so don't just let it suck air unattended.

too bad you can't buy it in a store like O'Reilly's! it's like eight bucks here. good luck with the cleanse it's quite an interesting experience:D

Thanks for the reply. Yea it sucks I cant buy it here. Ok so from what I gather I actually have to poor it into the vaccume line vs letting it suck it from a cup ? I am going to order some seafoem online and try it when its not -10c outside lol

I have used seafoam on a 95 bronco, 87 montero, 86 camaro, 94 prelude, 09 dodge, 99 integra, 91 integra, 75 chevy, 01 Ford, and my Tacoma! They all showed an increase in performance except the 09 dodge of course haha.

If you want to clean the bottom end REAL good, right before you do an oil change pour a small amount of transmission fluid in the motor. Run the truck around the block (very short distance) shut it off immediately and drain the oil and make sure you get every last drop out.

I used Sea Foam Motor Treatment in my (brake) vacuum line. It is the "standard" liquid formulation that you can pour into a cup, but you don't have to. The motor MUST be running to aspirate the fluid. I SLOWLY poured (i.e., trickled) it straight from the can into the vacuum hose, until about 1/3 of the can was gone.

So I used half can in the vaccum line and waited about 15 minuts and didnt smoke much at all. for like a few seconds maybe and not even much. Oh well I am sure it helped out anyways. Everything feels about the same still has the bit of a irratic idle.

So I sea foamed my truck the other day worked fine. Dad decided he wanted to do moms landcruiser. Followed a write up on how to do it on I8mud. It went fine until I shut it off for 5-10 minutes. It wouldn't idle for shit. Finally after an hour it's started to idle on its own power. Now it's throwing a code sayin bad cat. Why would this of happened? Makes me worried to use sea foam again
