I did both my Taco (115K or so at the time) and my Rav4 ~110K at the time and both are totally fine.

My IS300 has 80k miles. The much talked about risk associated with Seafoaming your high mileage engine has to do with it cleaning/removing the buildup of oil and dirt around seals and gaskets. The theory is that the Seafoam will remove the "build-up" which is keeping oil from leaking through seals and gaskets.

My theory is, if all that's preventing your engine from leaking is a build-up of oil and dirt, then you've got other problems you should address...like change the seals.

My experience with Seafoam is that it does a great job at making an engine run smoother, probably due to the fact it cleans out dirt from the intake manifold, and removed carbon build-up from the heads.

Just don't add too much to the vacuum lines at one time. Go slow....

    Alright guys, so... Seafoam question!
I am going to seafoam this weekend once Finals are over, and I'm going to do the BB, Crank case, but am wondering about the fuel tank. Why, you ask?

Because I added some of this:

the last time I filled my tank up (3 days ago). So, my question is: Is it safe for me to put the Seafoam in the fuel in my tank that has Heet in it right now, or should I wait until my next empty -> full fillup? Thanks guys.

    getting there....
I doubt it will hurt anything by mixing it. It's really up to you on that one. May be good to run it next fill up so it can work on its own.

Just be ready when you do it. Make sure you have:

    New Plugs
    Oil
    Toyota oil filter

And maybe a new bank 1 O2 sensor. I SF'd mine at 116K and it threw so much shit out, that it toasted the plugs, and clogged the sensor throwing a CEL.

a couple of years ago, my wife's '97 camry failed CA smog twice even after doing all the usual tune-up stuff. after a little research and one bottle of seafoam, the damn car passed with flying colors. it was burning like a brand new car.

I think I am going to do this as well. I plan to do this, then clean my MAF and throttle body. After that is complete, I will change the spark plugs, oil and oil filter, and fuel filter. Any other suggestions while I am doing a cleaning?

With the motor running there is vacuum. So all you have to do is let it suck it in slowly so yo don't kill the motor. I used a small clear plastic container to do it so i could watch how much it took in.

I've got a 2001 V6 TRD PreRunner with 135k, bought the truck less than a year ago with 128k on it and it is very evident that the previous owner did ZERO maintenance and upkeep on this truck. Gonna try the Seafoam this week on booster line and gas tank (just changed oil so I'll wait until next oil change to pour it in the oil) I'll let you guys know how it goes!

hello everyone i just bought an 02 dc 6cyl . i have a little rough idle so i did some minor work like change plugs & fuel filter, no change and as im reading on about the seafoam treatment i see i shouldve done the plugs and fuel afterwards . what is your take on this and or does it really make a big difference. might be a stupid question but just wanted to know if everyone who did the treatment did the fuel and plugs afterwards tia

I didnt do it afterwards, because i did far more research than neccesary on seafoam.

It really shouldnt cook your plugs, since their new. However, if they were nearing the end of their useful life, then use of seafoam would kill em off a bit quicker.

As far as the fuel filter goes, you should be fine. E10 gasoline has only been mandatory for a few years, so there really shouldnt be to much shit that seafoam will take out of your tank. It might help some gum/varnish get to the filter, but lets face facts. A fuel filter, is just that, a filter. You'll replace it down the road again. You might shave a couple thousand miles off its useful life, but the benefits of running seafoam far outweigh the minor change in expendable part life.

Should i be worried if i wanted to try it, just put new plugs in about 500K miles ago and just changed my oil and filter about 50 miles ago. I mean my truck feels like it needs it and its sluggish, even after all the cleaning a stuff done to it. And i know the previous owner didnt use good oil or filters, and kept up with maintence so much.

    500k?? lol

yea its not great on plugs..but i bet you'll be fine. And i wouldn't put it in the crank case till your last 100 mile or so before you oil change.

looks like bad time for you to do it now...
