I have installed an Xtang Trifecta tonneau bed cover on my new 2107 Tacoma. Rain leaks into the bed from the front corners of the truck bed. It is the design of the truck bed below the top where the cover fits. Any ideas or success sealing the truck bed would be appreciated.

Get inside the bed with everything closed.

Have a buddy work a bright light around the edges to find the exact potential leak points. Easy to see.

Visit your local supply store and shop for effective weather stripping materials and start with that. If you have a topper vendor close by you can stop in there and look at materials they use to mount the topper to as well.

I'd not expect a tonneau to ever be perfectly dry, unless it's a hard cover that hangs over the body.

Getting leaks reduced to where they dribble down the side and flow to the drains underneath a bed mat is about as good as that will get.

Clearwater Bill’s suggestions are spot on, but he forgot the most important part: hide keys outside of car and away from buddy (but don’t keep them in your pocket) BEFORE getting into trunk to look for leaks - at least that’s what I didn’t do when looking for leaks in the trunk of my first car - spent a good long time begging my buddy to let me back out after he locked me in, the car was too old to have a bypass latch.

My tonneau unlatches from the inside. Manually.

Thanks for the information. The issue is not with the cover. It is actually at the front corners of the bed below the top rails. It’s the way Toyota designed the bed. I did not have as much of an issue with my 2009 and 2013 trucks. Someone suggested silicone. I was asking you guys to see if anyone had success with the new generation of Tacoma. Thanks again.

So you have to be in the trunk to open it?! :)

i used electrical duct seal. Softer putty style material used for sealing pipes. I just took some, and shoved it into holes that i could see. It never really "hardens" totally.

Trucks that came with factory tonneau covers have 2 rubber 'seals' that press into the front gaps on the bed. I don't have a part number, or a photo of them, but they work well. I reused them when getting my Leer installed, and haven't had any issues with leaking. Also, I live in Seattle, so the potential for leaks is significant.
