I did a quick google search and there are MANY cons to salvage or 'rebuilt' title

so insurance companies in Colorado will sell collision and comprehensive insurance on a salvage or 'rebuilt' title?
also illegal to ever resell without disclosing it has such a title

There are cons to everything. I personally wouldn't buy a salvage title vehicle that was already fixed used the repairs and damage was well documented with pictures. Can't trust anybody else's work. Most of the time though salvage title vehicles are fine.

my nephew bot a salvage car for his first vehicle, but it was only $500 or so
those insurance companies like to play the FU game a lot

Absolutely, when you buy a salvage if you see the before photos you know what your getting.

Like this truck you see what it is.

If it was rolled and someone fixed it then NO.

The new title has a salvage statement if I remember, so there is no way to side that past and a carfax
will show that too, but if I’m buying it for myself I don’t care if I’m keeping it if it was minimal damage.
So many cars and trucks are just written off by insurance with minimal damage

Yeah the old wives tale of 'avoid salvage title at all costs!' ended up being just that, a tale, a myth.....Buuuuut if you don't know how to inspect things properly, you should definitely avoid salvage. Meanwhile many folks, myself included, get some ripping crazy killer deals on vehicles with salvage titles. Yes you can insure them and on and on. All that crap is old wives tales

so you or somebody you know has a salvage title and has been involved in a major accident that was not their fault with some motorist carrying geico or similar? and geico says OH Salvage title? here is $500 (or less) sorry for your loss
remind you i have no experience with something like this, i am totally clueless, but it would definitely affect my mental health and loss of sleep!

and i am talking the 'what if' scenario
you pay $10k for salvage and might get $500 if involved in another accident not in your control?
the property/casualty companies are often bad as health insurance companies are lol

Oh are you saying I've been in an accident with a vehicle with a salvage title and what happened? I've only ever had liability/basic insurance. I have no experience with full coverage stuff. I'd never spend that much on something I'm forced to have and that I don't feel or want to have anyways

Than their insurance pays me out. It was their fault. You prove to them with comps and for sale ad or whatever what it's worth. Not something to worry about man

    i am a grade A worry-wart :anonymous:

but the salvage title may be a fickle to certain companies?, let alone if they are uninsured!
that is a lot of headache in court battles and fees
i have discussed this scenario with my insurance provider (not the salvage issue) but another motorist with another carrier and they have so far given me NO peace of mind for what is beyond my control

is there a resident TW insurance agent :notsure: that knows the business, has seen it before?

I'm with you guys...... I LOVE THE 1st Gen truck , but... to keep it flawless and peppy it has cost me like $23K , Just to be like NEW BONE STOCK....with some nice touch upgrades ....:spending:, it runs so smooth, but....
if I get to sell it whenever day an enthusiastic pay for it,
( people say I'm insane to ask 16,000 for it ... whatever !!!:luvya:.)
    .. I rather to keep it ... i know what I got on it $ )

    Anyways... to the point ...
IN THE FUTURE I WOULD RATHER NOT TO BUY USED NEVER AGAIN.....:amen:

Meh used is the way to go as long as you understand you might have to fix some stuff. I taught myself how to wrench so I don't have to pay someone to do it. I got my truck for CHEAP and have put a couple thousand into it but it has been well worth it.
