    Hi guys,

I am trying to get the 90 km/h rear end whine/howl fixed but the dealership will not admit that there is a problem even though I have showed proof that it does exist and have provided them with a copy of the US version of T-SB-0013-18.

They are telling me it is a US only TSB and only applies to US models and does not apply in Canada.

Does anyone have any contacts with Toyota to help me source the Canadian TSB for this issue?

I find it very hard to believe that only trucks sold in the US have this issue considering they were all built on the same assembly line.

I hear the Canadian fix for a howling diff is to pour Maple Syrup in there.. Keeps it nice and quiet.

    It’s T-TCI-5034
I can’t PDF it from my phone, but the doc looks the same and it’s got the same 2/6/18 date.

I got some good news, in part because of the info found in this thread - namely the Canadian TCI #.

Yesterday I responded to an email from Toyota about scheduling routine maintenance, and in that reply I mentioned that the drivetrain whine was ongoing in my truck and that there was a TSB out in the US... Well today a service advisor from my dealer emailed back asking for the TSB # and PDF(I responded with the TCI # that became avail here and also attached the US PDF) and my current mileage. After about an hour, he responded again and said due to my history with this issue they were in the process of ordering the parts and will call to book an appointment to have the work done.. floored I was. This TCI doesn't apply to access cabs but they apparently put 2 + 2 together and decided to do right by me (or they know another TCI exists/ is incoming.. not sure).
Anywho, because I'm naturally skeptical I inquired which parts were ordered - he said everything that's in the TSB.

We shall see how this turns out but I gotta say I'm happy with the customer service this time around

You got lucky. Same shit with faulty throwout bearings. Covered by TSB in the USA, nothing in Canada. Unbelievable since they were all made at the same place. People say well Toyota Canada and Toyota USA are two different entities. Then why does Toyota warranty apply across the border? There were a few other TSBs that I brought up with my 2010 (blower fan was one, and melted headlights I think). Both times took in the USA TSBs and they said there's nothing we can do for you. I wonder if anyone has ever driven a Canadian truck across the border and got a TSB item repaired, with the cross border warranty and all.

Any update? I have been told the parts are ordered but the springs are on back order.

so they finally addressed the rear howl? and its not even at the diff?
are they really that fuckin stupid to not just pull the diff and realize its shitty back lash setting.

well at least they did somethign I guess.
Haven't had the issue yet and was prepared to pay an independent shop to pull the diff if it came up.

Uh, I hope I didn't fuck you over brother.. my service guy said the parts were ordered but some of them were coming from California (he didn't say which ones). I'm expecting the parts to be in by next Friday according to what he told me (that'll be two weeks total).

I will definitely update when I hear anything new.

    Cheers,

    Frank

Got a call today from Toyota, parts are in. Should be able to have this fixed on Saturday.

I also noticed just recently that the sound also is apparent at 102 km/h.

I did not. Had it in on Saturday only to find the dealer ordered the wrong Springs. Waiting on correct parts to come in now.
