My wife has a 08 toyota sienna. I cant stand the belt reminders. Our driveway is a little over a 1000' so every time we stop at the mailbox and then drive up our driveway we hear that damn belt reminder. I have an 07 tacoma and I never heard the belt reminder fo off. I hope it works in her van.

This is true, the passenger airbag will NOT work if you disconnect the wire underneath the seat to disable the chime.

I believe the seat belt chime was new to the '08+ Tacoma's. Previous models used only the warning light, not the combination of both the indicator light and chime.

At least this is what I've read from a few different people.

Just another thanks. Now I can put my cell phone on the passenger seat w/o a constant chime. Thanks again.

Anyone confirm if this disables the airbags? I don't want that to happen, but I hate the chime also.

The method mentioned by the OP in post #1 will not disable the airbags. Hope this helps.

Not to rain on your parade buddy, but how are you so sure? What is your source? :)

Your not raining on any parade here.

I checked with a local dealer before hand, and according to the service manager this would not disable the airbags. The airbag indicator light on the dash also clearly states the airbags are 'ON' when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat, whereas the light would not come on with the pressure sensor switch disconnected.

It is fairly common for the dealer to disable the seatbelt chime as described in the original post.

To add to the above post, the computer is still aware of unlatched seat belts and will notify you via the seatbelt light. All the seatbelt chime 'off' sequence does is to simply eliminate the seatbelt chime. Nothing more, Nothing less.
