Hey guys I just bought a 2002 Toyota tacoma 4x4, but when I turn the ignition switch all the lights come on the dashboard except the seat belt light. Is there a fuse or connector that needs to be put back on? I'm having the car inspected, I just don't want it to fail because it won't come on. Thanks in advance.

    My new ride.

Prolly just a burnt out light...maybe check the wiring at the buckle and under the seat. But id expect the light to still work regardless of a wiring snafu. Thats ridiculous if they fail you on not having that friggin light! Otherwise id say "prefect!" To having that light not come on, ha.

Im lucky enough to live in an area where i dont have to have safety checks or even emissions testing. It would drive me absolutely nuts to have to deal with that bull shit! I feel for ya on that bud!!!

Yea, all those should pulse when you turn the car on.

You need to remove the cluster. Its not difficult per se, just time consuming. Youll need to remove the center dash section (A/C control, stereo), then the cluster surround. Its pretty straight forward.

Some people disable this just so they wont see it when not wearing their seatbelt. Unlikely, but this may have happened. If not unplugged, the plug under the seat may have been altered.

Being said, i doubt this would be noticed during an inspection.

So I figured out what was wrong. The previous owner cut the cord that goes into the seatbelt clicker, I just rewired it back and it works now. :)

    Nice!

Now i know how to get rid of that damned light, lol, thanks! Im kinda suprised that cutting the wire makes the light stop, id figure Toyota woulda had it light up constantly if the buckle wire was cut. Which wire was it exactly that was cut? I suppose there is just two wires off that buckle??

Ya it was just two wires going into the buckle. Both wires were black unless they color coded different. It was dark outside when I looked at the wires.

Not sure where you are, but we have emissions and safety check in Harris Co TX, but that is not anything they look for.

Ya thats reason I wanted the light back on for the safety and inspection. For a 2015 i wouldn't know. I wouldn't do anything personally. It does make me wear my seat belt though haha.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
So glad I don't have emissions/safety checks to worry about here in MT! The airbag light in my truck has been slowly blinking on and off since I got it a year ago. The seatbelt light is always pulsating as well because I'm too lazy to wear it around town. I only ever put it on traveling at high speeds down the freeway. Unsure of what the airbag light means, tried to get a scanner to pick up a code on it and it returned nothing. And I'm too cheap to take it to a shop or dealership for something like that.
