bout all you could do is run a tap through the bolt hole and try to clean it. issue with this is the bolt hole will become weaker. so a bit of a safety concern. buy an extra bolt that has the same thread from an auto parts store and drive it into the bolt hole. if you do it right and get it straight on the first shot, it will hopefully kind of reform the threads. using a tap will cut new threads.

if however you just put the new bolts in, use some blue locktite. it will help hold the bolt in and kind of undo that damage done.

make sure to use red threadlocker with the re-threading kit. otherwise the new threads you put in can slip out or further in.

no, rethreading kits come with little springs that you have to drive inside the oversized thread that is made with the tap from the kit. see video.

this guy didn't use threadlocker. is it that bad to not use it? no. can it be a nuisance later if it doesn't have threadlocker? yes. it's still recommended though.

Thread replacement kit may be overkill. I guess it depends how wasted the original thread is. I would run the tap through the hole and test the bolt for engagement. From experience those helicoils or whatever they call them are a pain in the but. I would probably get a bolt 2"longer tap the hole and put a big nut on the other side before I would duck with putting in one of those.

Edit: I actually just stripped one of mine when I took the interior out to move the floor for the clocked tcase. I found a proper bolt in my spare hardware pile and threaded it in. I don't think I managed to damage the nut welded to the cab at all.

Respectfully disagree. The seat belt is attached to the seat so there is a lot of force applied to those bolts in an accident.

+1. The brand used at the rebuild shop I worked for was Helicoil. They are super strong, would be used if head bolts stripped going into the block. Held the very high torque settings on giant diesel engines. Seriously strong.

My seatbelt is seperately connected to the floor not my seat. But i will be purchasing some coils to fix my issue.

I'm in a similar bind. While trying to re tap the threads on mine, the welded bolt broke free from the cab. I'm thinking of putting a bolt and nut, but I'll have to cut a small whole to access where the bolt would go on.

    any other ideas? Advice?

Thought of a nutsert, but not convinced it will be strong enough.

Through bolt and a washer, unless you know someone who can tack a new nut on for you.

+1 on this. any welder should be willing to tack for 40 bucks so long as it's easy to get too. maybe ask for 2 or 3 tacks

was it the horizontal bolt that goes on the rear/right side on the driver side? I stripped that one out.
