My commute is also about 80 miles round trip though we don't really use it for commuting since my wife and I generally carpool in her Subaru. That said, I put 3000 miles on the truck the first 3 weeks of ownership with road trips to both Georgia and upstate PA from DC. I was never really uncomfortable but I can see where many people could find it uncomfortable. I find myself shifting more in the seat and the first trip I noticed the seat was not amazingly comfortable. I think it has to do with the limited seat adjustments. Every other truck/car we have owned has power seats. I had a 1997 Ford XLT with power seats so not sure why a 2017 Tacoma can't. Due to the limited seat adjustments it forces us to sit in a position our bodies are otherwise not comfortable/familiar with.

Thanks i think this is exactly happened. Should of gave it more time i think. I test drove one last week again and did feel the seat is not as hard. maybe because i came from 15 tundra crew and great seats and big seats i didn't give it time. Now that i have been in the Colorado ow for almost 25k miles seats are not as nice as tundra either but i am comfortable now in them and they were also hard and i did get used to them but as you said can adjust them up and down etc.

How many miles did you put on your last Taco? I have a bad back and some vehicles I will never be able to get comfortable in. Other vehicles I can adjust within a month or so. With my Taco I was able to get comfortable right away, never had any issues. 1 month after purchase I drove it solo 2600+ mi over 6 days with no issues.

I miss the recaros in my Focus ST.. But the TRDOR seats are okay. I'm getting more comfortable in them by the day.

With 2k uncomfortable miles, I personally would not even think about considering the same or similar vehicle with the same seats. 2k miles is plenty of time to me to know I would never be comfortable in the vehicle. Comfort trumps style to me everyday of the week. I love driving too much to not enjoy in comfort what I'm driving. OP, best of luck on your decision!

thanks SuperBad. One thing I left out which I did not know at time was I had my arm start bothering me from neck and upper back and I thought was all seats but come to find out I was getting frozen shoulder. Had to get it put out and broke loose then theropy. Back and neck and stuff got better and even felt better driving the Colorado which at first was not great but I was going through this fix that I didn't realize I had. So I don't know how much may of been my arm and shoulder was just starting to freeze. Matter fact I have surgery on my other arm and shoulder next month same thing happened again on other one. So guess I want to believe that part of me not getting comfortable was I couldn't adjust and I didn't know it but the frozen shoulder that was setting in effects the arm neck and back and thinking I might of just been fighting 2 issues and if I hadn't had that going on maybe I would of found I was ok. I guess for now ill keep my Colorado and get this other arm done then maybe rent one for a week or something and see how I do then

just seems weird a lot older folks than I are getting these and no issues with comfort and just seems odd that I had this issue so bad. I am hoping part or all that caused it for me stemmed from my frozen shoulder.

Comfort is good for me. Only complaint I have is my front passenger seat vibrates at high speeds

I find the seats surprisingly comfy. My previous daily was a 2014 Audi A6, and I have back issues (degenerative disc, already had 1 surgery). I've been in Toyotas before that had seats like marshmallows, but the seats in my taco are firm, supportive, and overall very good. Only wish is seat height, wish I could raise them up a bit.

Sorry to hear about the issues you have been having. Hope everything goes well with the next surgery! That could have definitely had an affect on your comfort. Renting one for a week is great plan to try it out again and see if it was due to those health conditions or not. I wish I could get surgery to fix mine but alas there is nothing that can be done besides medication. I'm glad I find it comfortable but sometimes when my back/neck is really stiff I have trouble not hitting my head when I get in due to the low roof height. Once I'm in its all good though. :D

I just talked to dealer and they are going to get back to me tomorrow the manager is gone to see if they have a demo double cab trd off road to let us drive for weekend. I was going to wait till surgery but my truck now isn't causing any issues so if they will do this I will take them up on offer. Thanks everyone I think I made my mind up that I do want one if my issues was not all truck related by spending some time in one with wife again for about 300 miles. We can put 150 to 200 a day on over weekend if the dealer is good with it or not. Think that would be enough to know if there was good comfort or if we struggled or I struggled getting comfortable. Ill just make sure I am good before I pull the trigger and go back to one. Hope it works out

That would be great if they have a demo you can drive for the weekend. If you pay attention to your comfort I would expect that you would know if its less comfortable within a few hours of driving. GL, hope to hear it was all caused by your health and not the truck so you can get back in the truck you prefer! You may have stated but where are you located?

Nice, I've been thinking about spending a weekend up in OK or AR camping sometime in the next few months. I'm in Dallas, TX so it would make for a nice little weekend camping trip. I've never been to either and I just want to explore more and enjoy the forests.
