I am thinking about getting seat covers. I have a question about what happens when the seat airbags go off ? Has anyone had an actual experience with seat covers and airbags ? How did it go ?
    Thank you for ANY help.

There should be a line in the item description that says the seat covers are compatible with side air bags and some of them have a tag stating so like on the OEM seat material.

They are made so that they tear in the area of the bag so it can deploy properly (some might have a slit/opening for the airbag).

Katzkin makes great custom leather interiors... I know that they are air bag compatible, but they are pricey and not just a cover.

Many seat covers might indeed have a seam that ruptures but my concern is if the airbag still properly deploys towards the front. I suspect some of these air bag compatible seat covers will direct the airbag out to the side of the seat.

Ha, from that title I thought the accident was on the seat cover.

Go test it out at a salvage yard. Use a 12V power tool battery to trigger it. It'll cost you a seat cover and door fee for the yard, but worth the peace of mind. Be sure to record it at a high framerate, for YouTube slow-mos :stirthepot:

Lots of seat covers nowadays has features that accommodate an airbag deployment from within the seat itself.

Having that said, it shouldn't be a concern getting seat covers.
