What are your recommendations for seat covers? Custom seat covers are expensive and the universal ones you can get at Walmart or a parts store just don’t really fit right. Is there a middle ground?

So, you can go semi-custom with something like Wet Okole - that's what I have on my Taco and honestly they are something I'm glad to have spent the money on. Fit, finish, and durability are amazing. Here's my write-up: The @mrs.turbodb Mod - Custom Wet Okole Seat Covers

There's a less expensive option that gives a similar look, but the covers are very obviously not as nice (fit, finish, durability). I went with these on my 3rd gen 4Runner since they were half the price and I needed two rows of covers. I wish I hadn't, and had just purchased the Wet Okole's, but they are an option on a budget. Thanks for input. I’m trying to see if there are any options in that middle ground between custom and cheap universal. There is a custom seat cover shop where I live that I can go to but I’m trying to not spend $200-300 on seat covers. Seems like the only options though are going to be expensive custom covers or cheap crap ones.

Does anyone know if any of the cheap brands fit Tacomas better than others?

50 dollar Mossey Oaks (maybe cheaper online) from Wally, 200 dollar Carhartts online or 400 dollar neoprene Okoles give a pretty wide spectrum.

I suppose if you could convince a shop to build a decent fitting bottom with good straping underneath it would pass as sturdy.

Figure poster above ran cheapos for what 15 yrs. before buying quality ones, I guess I'll stick to Mossey Oaks even though I agree they're crap at least they're cheap enough if they actually tear or get dirty, I won't be crying.

+ there's no way I could handle neoprene in summer. I want leather covered with fabric even.

look at "wet akole" seat covers, best I've ever used. had them i=on my 99 avalon for 8 years and they looked new when I sold it. they are semi-custom and have affordable covers that will fit like a glove on the tacoma

Have em on my 98. Custom fit. Good choice of materials, colors, and options. I find the full pouches on the seat backs to be perfectly useful.
