I can't remember the exact clamp size. Maybe 2.5 inner diameter. I removed the sensors from the seat rails because they were interfering with the aftermarket seat brackets. I cut the metal down as well to make them more compact. Clamping the sensors just tricks the computer into thinking a person is present.

I replaced the bench seat in my 05 with bucket seats.
Out of curiosity I disassembled the seat belt buckles this is what I found.

F22 is a slide switch. When the switch is closed the seat belt light comes on.
    PXL_20210225_221631645.jpg
F23 looks like a proximity switch.

If the metal tab is not present (not in front of the sensor) the air bag light will be on.

All this works correctly. Thank you for the post. Only think i've done different is no fuse and put a on/off toggle switch in on of the two wires going to the seat belt. So i can turn on and off the airbag as I switch on and off the truck. You also have to do only one side of the sensors left or right.

while you may only have to do one side, the sensors equate the load to a voltage. The voltage references a table for weight of the passenger. As I understand it, Depending upon weight the airbag response will be effected. Each sensor can only read a maximum of 5 volts which is about a max of 75 pounds each (depending upon initial calibration weights). So if you only do two sensors, you might be limited to the lesser response from the system. Also, you can turn the chime off for the seat belt through programming or tech stream depending upon year of vehicle.

Boy you guy's really know your shit to play with all that air bag stuff. I'm currently trying to fix an airbag light. Too nervous to even play with the wire obd to get code so I'm ordering a code reader with srs capability. Hopefully it's something I can fix because money is real tight right now. Kudos to you guys

is that for the factory heated seats? only available on the Limited. I haven't looked at mine in a while but i researched it a few years ago. it's a stupid expensive option to try and incorporate, but there should also be an existing unused connector behind the center console buttons

    Very helpful thread, thanks!

I found a great deal on a pair of 2013 front seats and thinking about picking those up and putting them in my 2005.

Do you think it’s the same ohm resistor for 3rd gens?

also where did you get the plug? Did you canabolize the old one? I’m removing my seat temporarily for solo trips (going to extend my rear seat delete platform up front). But other trips I’ll need the passenger seat back so thinking I shouldn’t canabolize the plug from the seat.

Just bought it, but it's been lifted and who knows what else has been crappily done before I got it. It's going to be a project for sure... but it's my daily driver too.

Thank you. It came as part of the Wet Okole seat cover kit. After I installed the front Corbeau seats, I then sold the front Wet Okole seat covers and the console cover. I still have the rear. I imagine if you go on the website you may be able to acquire one without buying seat covers.

Followed @ktmrdr’s original post and my seat occupancy code has vanished!

All I have now is B1653:
    Diver Seat Position Sensor

Anyone have a trick on how to get the sensor to register? I don't have the original rail system. Seems to be magnetic.

The code should go away just as long as you have the sensor plugged in. If you want to remake it like stock you could attack a piece of aluminum or stainless angle to the seat like the OEM config and mount the sensor up in a way also similar to OEM.

@JdevTac thanks for the speedy reply!

    The plug is connected.

It's been a few days, so I'll either have to mount it and simulate OEM config and/or get a new sensor.

Yeah kinda odd. The sensor just rides the rail and the computer translates that to rate of airbag deployment so if the sensor is tripped or not essentially, so the computer should be happy as long as it’s plugged in, even if the magnet isn’t disrupted by the rail or however it triggers. I would assume like your saying that the sensor seems to be having an issue.

@JdevTac you were right. Went to the local junk yard and found a driver side seat position sensor from a 2007 RAV4. Plugged it in and the light went off. Thank you!

Nice! I just de-soldered the airbag led bulbs from the instrument cluster and the passenger airbag notification light below the radio. Out of sight, out of mind right?
