Is there any difference between the seat rail mounting points (feet) between double cab, extra cab, and regular cab? I want to scavenge the boneyards for a set, rather than cut the ones off of my existing seats, as I graft in a set of BMW leather power seats. Many thanks!!

I believe the buckets and 60/40 bench share the same brackets regardless of cab style. The regular cab bench is different

Double cab doesn't slide forward like the xtracab buckets. But i believe the mounting points are the same.

Yeah, pretty sure they're all the same mounting points. You *should* be okay with any year taco, too. To be on the safe side, since you have an '04, I'd try to find rails from an 01-04. There are several things that changed between 00 and 01 that I just don't keep track of.

You could do a part # lookup for various year tacos to be sure.

Doing the same thing with Lexus power seats. I actually preferred to use BMW seats, but after searching 50 different BMW's I found their seats to be way too stiff. The Lexus ES300 seats I'm using are actually memory foam I think.

Welding is a real PITA... I'm trying to keep the sliding mechanisms intact for my extra cab and its taken me a lot of welding and grinding to get them almost perfect.

Bench Seat rails will NOT work - there's only two of them. You can use full buckets, or 60/40 seats. Im using the 60/40 seat rails but the full 50/50 bucket seat rails are easier to modify if you plan on keeping the sliding mechanism intact.

I grinded down the existing seat ratcheting mechanism and welded on angle iron. From there I'll weld the Lexus seats to the angle iron.

I'm going to just weld the feet from the Toyota rails to the BMW rails, to keep from getting too much added height. The wiring has been a bit of a bit**, but I think I have it sorted out, but I think I am just going to forget about the heated seat portion. I was most interested in the ability to tilt the seat bottom. Plus the wife will be able to raise them way up, and well forward, much better the current set up for her (she's a shorty, or as I like to say, fun-sized).

Ah not much of a problem for you as it is for me. I have an extended cab with the jump seats, without the slider it will be impossible to get back there. You have a double cab so the slider is pointless.

I don't mean to hijack, but does any one know of a simple way to get the stock seats to slide about an inch or two further back? On my old TJ I just moved the slider rails a little further back on the seat mount legs.

There is no "easy" way. I took a piece of 1/4 X 1" flat strap and removed the seat frame from the track assembley then welded the strap to the tracks and the seat to the strap 2 inches farther back... I have no idea if the seat is going to be as safe as it was before the mod or not.
