Mostly plastic trim pieces attached to the fabric, which attaches to the metal frame. Yes, a few hog rings in some strategic locations.
Cut or twist them off with a pair of pliers, pick up hogring pliers and some hog rings from Napa or wherever.
Not even sure if they even use them anymore. They are more prevalent on older vehicles.

I did think about it. I also contacted the tacomaworld hookup at AutoAnything and he told me he could get me some caltrend or coverking seat covers for a good price as well. I've also thought about just saying 'screw it' and getting some corbeau A4's. Still undecided.

Do yours seem to sit just a bit unlevel? Also, what did you do about the back leg? Mine was off by about an inch and I just bent it over so as not to have to drill a new hole.

My back leg was off only 1/4 of an inch at most. I didn't have to bend it. I secured the other two legs first, then put my weight on the chair and got it over the hole, dropped the screw in and tightened it down.

Since I prefer stock look, I'd rather recover the leather and bring it back to new, assuming the foam underneath is still good. If the seats need new foam and multiple leather backings, then you are pushing $300+ and I would then rethink the entire project. But if you can restore your unlimiteds for under $200, thats the route I'd go.

I just picked up a 06 Reg cab Prerunner. Came with bucket seats. There are some tears in the cloth. Found leather replacement (katzkin) on ebay for double and access cabs. Does anyone know if those will fit the Reg cab bucket seats?

This looks great. Just got a 2004 Tacoma and the seats are pretty worn and uncomfortable. Those seats from the 4Runner look really comfortable. How much fabrication was needed to do the swap?

Haven't read through all of the exchange here so maybe this has been covered. You can buy complete OEM replacement foam for just under $200 a seat that includes Top & Bottom. Check out Leatherseats.com or Katzskin.com as well. You will end up with from $800 to 1K when finished but they will be far superior to used salvage offerings. Also, a good time to add a good quality heated seat kit for your ride.
