Hi folks I just purchased a used 2018 Tacoma and the driver seat is really too thick and I sit too high with no way to lower it. Is there anyway to remove some of the foam, or make the seat lower , thanks

Welcome to the forum. There’s been a few people on here who have taken their seat to an auto upholstery shop and had the seat cushion thinned out. I have a 17 and would like to get a powered seat from a 20+ to modify mine.

Check to make sure the previous owner did not install riser pucks at the floor mounting points. Some peeps put them on the back mounts only.

I hate how high the OEM seats are. At the lowest position, my eyes are well above the middle of the window. I have to tuck my head to get into my door and into my seat. They made this truck for people less than 5ft tall!

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
On one of my old trucks I put the stock seats to the curb and installed Honda CRX seats. It was the most comfortable vehicle I’ve owned

Eat an extra burger at lunch and take a nap in the driver's seat that should be good for a couple inches in reduced seat foam.

^This. It usually takes me a few weeks to find the ideal setting in a new truck. Recline seat one click, then scootch forward one click. Take a drive and ask if it's better or worse. Visibility, comfort, and appropriate distance from the air bags.

Don't be afraid to change things up after you think you have it dialed in. There might be a position that's better.

Toyotas don't seem to be designed for head room. Mine seems ok to me, buy there isn't a lot of extra room up there. I don't know the specs in the new Tundra, but the cab doesn't look all that tall in relation to the rest of the truck. Which gives it a low sleek look, and is probably more aerodynamic, but not offering much for headroom.

When I drove a shared work truck, those seats were always much lower than the previous time I was in it. I guess I contributed to the ware and tare as well, but I always thought how can a person be so hard on a seat?

    This seems likely.

Prior to the electric seats, most people thought the factory position was way too low.

the electric seats actually allow the seat to be moved a bit lower than the earlier seats.

in my case, it's still too high even with the 2021 electric seat, my head just barely touches the ceiling. it's not the worst thing in the world, but i am a little concerned about what might happen in a head-on collision.

This is why you get one without a sunroof as a tall person. Gives you a solid 3”+ more headroom.

    Yes, exactly.

I’m about 6’ and on my 2010 I installed risers in the rear as I felt like I was sitting in a clam shell with the stock seats.

On my new Tacoma (with electric seats) I installed risers on the front as I found the thigh support to be lacking for those of us with long legs.

With the front risers, the seat is more comfortable, but now it is too high. My legs now touch the steering wheel even with the steering wheel adjusted as high as possible.

I just think Toyota is struggling to find a cabin seating design that keeps the floor height up for ground clearance, the roof height low for garage clearance, and a seating position reasonable for full size North American people. To “fix” one, you sacrifice another.

Certainly no disrespect intended, but wouldn't this be something you would have noted when you test drove the truck before purchasing? No matter how good of a vehicle if it's uncomfortable to drive I would have to think twice about making the purchase.

That said, if there are no seat jackers installed I would take it to a good auto upholstery shop, tell them the problem, and see what they can do.

I am 5'7 and have no problems at all with the seat's height. Me it is getting in and out of the truck.
