Agreed. I have no idea why a thread from someone asking for basic advice turns into a dumpster fire.

If the Tacoma was known for having comfortable seats, there wouldn’t be numerous aftermarket companies making seat risers / jackers. Heck, there are aftermarket mods for nearly every component of these trucks, yet someone gets uppity about the seats? Crazy.

FWIW, to the OP, I would probably go straight to an auto upholstery shop to see if they can reshape the foam to make it fit better for you. Given your truck is a few years old already, replacing some foam will probably be a noticeable improvement. Heck, have them install some Katskinz leather seat covers while they’re in there to really upgrade the interior.

I have a friend with back issues who gets his seat foam customized on every vehicle he buys. He swears by it for his back.

I don't mind people asking questions whether I agree with what they are doing or not. That's what this place is for, and it's their truck and their money. The ones that do get to me are the "these trucks are the biggest piece of garbage known to man" posts with no point other than just bashing. They don't happen often fortunately, but when they do it seems like it's just basically to get people cranked up.

As others have stated, the OP asked a legitimate question. No reason to bash him for it. Let's just give the man some advice.

3rd gen Tacoma section are a sensitive bunch. Mention a failure of the Tacoma, and they come swinging in defense of their baby. Triggered.

Not everyone is going to have a perfect experience with the Tacoma.

5'5" tall here and I wish I had the OP's issue! When I get to heaven, the two things I am going to discuss with God are why couldn't you have made me 5"8" tall and what were you thinking with the mosquitoes?

PS: the OP asked a legit question and our resident fanboyz shit all over him. So typical of this graceless age we live in.

Lol! I am calm…seems to me you are the one getting yer panties in a twist. NTTIAWWT (if you like wearing panties that is lol!) Never said the OP was pissing and moaning. It was implied that there is an awful lot of pissing and moaning on here in general. Anyone with half a sense of humor would got that, Geesh talk about being fucking uptight!?

Lowering the seats is pretty simple, make your own brackets for the stockers (I have done this on other vehicles), or go buy aftermarket. It isn’t rocket surgery…

Have buddy who is 6’5” who hated the seating position in his Tacoma, sold it and bought a Ram MegaCab and loved it, go figure… we are all built differently, what works for one won’t for another. So often I see on here people trying to make the Tacoma something it is not. Got the sport sedan guys trying to make it a M3, the full-size guys trying to make it 1 tonner, the gas misers trying to make it a Prius.

It is a Tacoma, a mid-size truck that does nothing well, it is a truck based on compromises, either it works for you or it doesn’t.

I am 6ft 1 and think the seat is to small compared to other trucks in the mid size and full size segment..

I always wonder , what if the Tacoma roof was built one inch higher? How much improvement it would be! We all do know , the cost.
At 5’6” adding the Seat Jackers and one inch rear risers, made a huge difference for comfort and my back.

I am surprised to read some people find the seats are too high?

My Leer camper , I have the higher rise ,vs flush, just 2-3 inches differ in height. But night and day in carrying capacity. Crawling in and out so much easier, double stack boxes, load more stuffs, just a inch or more, can make HUGE difference.

Sometimes I wonder ? What if someone makes a Tacoma 5 1/2 bed? How much nicer it would look and the added carrying capacity.

Interesting that you quoted mine lol. Freakishly tall people should get a full size?
As I said in a previous reply, I am 6'4'' (considered freakishly tall to most people) and I have 0 issues getting in or driving around in my 3rd gen. I ride with the seat pretty straight up and I have a good 2 inches above my head.
Is it as much room as an F450? No. Do I have headroom? Yeah, never bumped my head once.

For me, it actually took some getting used to because the Taco's design is like sitting in a car and not a "truck". Feet go out more in front of you than below you.

Seats ok, it’s the cab roof and steering wheel that are too low. Seriously. Steering wheel also needs more adjustability especially pullout.

Said “probably” as everyone’s tolerance is different, buddy of mine is 6’2” and hates riding in my Tacoma, rather take his F350 instead. While have other friends are freakishly tall who own Tacomas and love theirs, I’ll even say isn’t this truck a little small for you, looked kinda scrunched up. Get back…nah, love it. Ok man, whatever your comfort level is.

Had my 1986 Dodge Ram 4x4 8 foot bed, 4inch lift. Over 15 years. It Was very comfortable to seat in and drive. Just too many things falling apart due to the age. The seat height was perfect for me too. Even my wife at 5 ‘ height had no problems going to the grocery store.

I have too duck my head and grab my steering wheel just to climb inside the Tacoma. If I step on the rock slider, I really need to duck to climb in. Lol

Hopefully one day Tacoma will be able solve some of its issues.

I think that a lot of people are used to full-sized interior when they think of trucks. I feel like Toyota built the Tacoma interior like a car. I am used to driving smaller cars so I am ok with that.
Tall people are either used to squeezing into small vehicles or used to driving bigger ones lol.

Good point, I meant for the Tacoma, lol.

My wife’s cousin past away last year and the family lives in the mainland . They left his 2001 Tundra on our farm till the estates are settle.
We drive the Tundra on the farm, to keep the truck battery charge and running.
Yea, I like the room and feel of this Tundra , but the V-8 eats gas. Climbing in and out , so easy (has driver side grab handle) sitting is definitely more comfortable then my 2019 Tacoma

    Yep!

We always had full-size or bigger work trucks, why I like Toyotas for being more car like, refreshing jumping into that after running around in bigger vehicles all day long.

Yeah it is all relative. My buddy with the F350 still can’t get over I paid as much for my Taco, the he did for his. Said you could of had a bigger truck! I know, but don’t need one, like the Toyota better. He just shakes his head.
