All residential neighborhood with a 25mph speed limit lmao. Plus it was a feature built into my tuner. Even lets me disable auto locking doors but I’d never disable those lol

Yea man. You do whatever you’d like. I’m not one to tell others what they should/shouldn’t do when it doesn’t affect me. But I wear my seatbelt because I can’t control what other people on the road will do. It might be 25MPH in the neighborhood but that doesn’t mean some idiot didn’t just steal a car and come speeding through a stop sign and t-bone you. Sounds crazy, but I wear my seatbelt cause crazy unpredictable stuff happens. If it didn’t, we wouldn’t call them “accidents” and we wouldn’t need safety equipment. But hey, I’m starting to get old and sound like my dad, so I’ll stop now.

In my area, the roads are fucking crazy. Getting to/from work is like driving through a battlefield of incompetent lunatics with 2ton moving weapons. It’s by far the most dangerous thing I do everyday (I think that actually true for us all), so I try not to be casual about that risk. Seatbelts and airbags saved my life, my wife’s, and my daughter’s when some dipshit turned out in front of us without looking. My wife spent 2 weeks in the hospital and 3 months on bedrest when she was pregnant with our daughter because of that. Our destination was only 2 miles from our house.

If you think about it you're in more danger close to home because every trip starts and ends at home. Surface streets have a higher accident rate than freeways. So the idea that I'm only going 1/4 mile I don't need my seatbelt does not stand up to logic.
The only time I've not worn my seatbelt is wheeling on very rough spots where it keeps tightening up, otherwise I wear it all the time. Howerver I don't need a buzzer to remind me to put it on. We are in the real world not driver's training so I start my truck and let the oil get circulating then put my seatbelt on (driver's training you couldn't start the engine until everyont had their seatblets on).

I turned mine off cause when I put my work bag in my passenger seat the chime would go off. Or when my dog sits there. Chime. Things I can't buckle in, and I have to listen to the chime? No thank you.

I had to get a dealership to go into my trucks computer and turn the option to off.

That's reasonable. I've had my pack on the passenger seat set it off, I just buckled the pack in but you can't always do that.

I work from home and watch people speed through my neighborhood regularly. One kid in a 3500HD drifted my corner and lost control right in front of my house. 10' from my residential driveway, 25mph speed limit, zero fucks given by the driver. Like Joe pointed out, other drivers are 99% of my concern.

I used a BAFX ODB II adapter and the Carista app. There's a lot of apps out there so I'm sure there's another one that'll do the same. You can change quite a few settings.

I'll admit though- the little gadget for sale is affordable and kinda cool. It would be helpful in certain situations. Especially for those that need a reminder to buckle-up most of the time. Kind like my significant other, who has a highlander. Sure, I could have disabled the chime, but she needs it.
