Just traded in my 06 trd or for an 11 Dcab 2.7l.
Put on clazzio seat covers (very nice).
Had to remove the back seatbelt FTP install rear seat cover.
When I took it off (14mm), was difficult. When I reinstalled the bolt,
It was difficult and sure enough, was stripped at the top of the bolt.
    I think was improperly installed?
But the bolt looks like stainless steel? Not even grade 5 (or grade 8?)
    Wtf!!!

Should I tale it to the dealer? Or try to regal it myself?

Looking for a 12x1.50mm bolt now! Toyota charging $4 for a replacement!

    P.s. I also had a 05 Dcab 4x4 before the 06.
    Toyota using cheaper bolts?

FWIW when using stainless steel hardware ALWAYS use never seize, or it will always gall up and strip.

Your complaining about a $4 bolt? A bolt that you need to save your life in an accident?

What was the number on the head of the bolt?

It it is stripped @ the head side was either overtightened at the factory or when you removed it. It happens.

Thanks for the comments. The bolt is now stripped. But it looks like the nut
That is welded to the body frame is stripped also and was the problem.

I'm not complaining about the $4 bolt. I'm complaining about it NOT
Being a grade 5/8 bolt! As you said, it might save your life!

Not sure if it's SS. Auto zone guy said it was a 'softie'.

Wanted to know if others on the forum ever had this happened?

I haven't heard any incidents of the bolts shearing in an accident. I'm sure they hold up just fine. I bet if you go check all the bolts in your truck you would find similar situations.
