Went to dealer today and they gave me a rental for the day. When I wake up tomorrow I'll go get it. They said the seat sensor needed to be recalibrated.

I'll get clarification on how it was uncalibrated in the first place because if hitting a pothole means bring it in every time I'm gonna be a good customer.

My above post I stated the seat sensor became uncalibrated. They could not provide an answer as to how just that "it happens".

Sensor did it again. Will now have to go back to the dealer and have it recalibrated. Although from what I was told from my alignment fiasco if you come for the same thing twice the ticket stays open.

    Anyone else have an issue?

No, "re-calibration of seat sensor" sounds like some bs. Tell them to replace it.

I am going to request the full replace as if I ever did any serious off pavement driving that would be out of calibration. This time it did on my grandparents drive which is unpaved dirt road.

If the vehicle comes in three times for the same major defect, Lemon Law in many states kicks in.

Same thing happened to me yesterday! My truck is a 2018 Tacoma has about 3 thousand miles on it. Took it up some dirt roads to go camping then noticed the lights on. Called the dealer, they cant get me in until next week. Let me know if you ever got it resolved.

It is pretty common for occupant detection to have to be recalibrated after a wreck. Not your situation im sure, i have seen them need to be recalibrated for no good reason and it fixes the issue no need for any other repairs. But since yours seems to have be come uncalibrated again there does seem to he an underlying issue but it could be sensors, wiring, ecu. Let us know what they figure out doesnt seem to be a common issue on any models in my shop, except for the recall on 12-14 camrys for the sensors.

Hey guys, any updates on this issue?
I have had it fixed twice but after about a month or so it comes back on. Ill have to go in for the third time.
first time they said it was the seatbelt so they replaced it, second time they said they need to replace the sensor they did. then after about a 2 months, its back.
this will be the third time i go in for it.

between this the tapping/loose window that they always fix the truck is starting to bug me, oh and also the weird rattlig along the dash and seats. sorry for the rant

Mine just did it this weekend. Going to have to take it in. I checked all the connections and they are all snug. 2016 with like 46k miles.

Anyone find a fix? I know this is old, but mine just did this today. Been under quarantine these last 2 weeks and drove to Costco today and noticed it.

Had to go to the dealer and they fixed it. Eventually they replace the whole seat assembly on the passenger side. So far it hasn’t occurred since.

Are you, or any members of your family daily customers of KFC? KFC has been proven to contribute to seat belt issues due to excessive overweight persons. Just sayin.

I work in a Bodyshop seat faults and seat belt pre-tensioner faults are common if stuff is jammed under your seats FYI .

Calibration is another common Lexus/ Toyota issue .

sorry to revive an old thread but I’m curious about something. Do you know the procedure for a Tacoma (2020 push button start) if I was to take the passenger seat out and drive with it out, and want to reset it? My hopeful plan is to take it in/out and have a sleeping platform there for camping.

thanks in advance. I’m happy to buy tools as needed, a 250$ speciality tool is cheaper than trading in for a frontier tomorrow :D

Your airbag light will be on with the seat out which may effect your airbag system in case of accident . Your airbag light should go out upon reinstalling but will leave a record unless the codes are cleared.

From what I've been able to find, the seat occupancy detects the passenger seat. The drivers side will always deploy, the passenger will not if there are lights on. There's a bit in the owners manual that explains about the lights and the effects (passenger side on/off). Driver side will always be there.

I'm sure the error code is permanently logged somewhere, too. That's not a problem.
