We all choose our own level of risk. Some people skydive. Not me. Statistically though, most people that get ejected get squashed by their own vehicle.

WOW! Since you were in a plane crash, are you afraid to fly? Heck no, the odds of a person getting in a plane crash twice is extremely low. I'm good.

Alcohol is also involved.. people wanna advocate wearing the seatbelt, I have my right to advocate not wearing one.

Helmets are optional motorcycle Attire in Arizona, I advocate wearing one.. i dont even like pushing my bike 5 feet with out wearing one lol

If your concerned about it, mount it (I did) or better yet carry a benchmade triage on you. Been having this debate for years. I wear, but I’ve cracked my head. Grandfather helplessly listened to young couple and infant burn, so he wouldn’t touch them. Just gotta be a big boy and make your own call on this one.

This guy survived. Not everybody that gets ejected gets killed. Like I mentioned. Choose you level of risk. I cherish the days when you could just throw on a pair of shades and ride down to the store.

It's personal choice in my opinion, just like helmets and motorcycles. I wear a seat belt all the time when driving on the road but when I'm in and out launching and retrieving my boat, I'm not strapping myself to the seat. Also I put some groceries and some other stuff on the passenger seat and the beeping is annoying.

To point one ("violent stop")-the purpose of this experiment is to test the hypothesis that a forehead head hitting a hard surface first may provide a different experience than a distributed load across the rib cage.

To your second point: ("rollover entrapment with temporary loss of consciousness and fire")
These are all good points and I believe this situation is not nearly as far fetched as some may comment.
Indeed, if you review my build thread you will see I am prepared for this.
    • I have the MagLight mount with glass breaker and a SOG tactical knife within reach.
    • I also carry an ABC/double size racing fire extinguisher.
    • I am a trained firefighter and have experience in fire conditions with skip breathing and panic suppression.
    • My Hi-Life is outfitted with the Fire Fighter vehicle extrication kit (to jack the dash etc.)
    • I carry a full size Halligan and chocks that can double as cribbing.
    • I have 4 means of communication, PA, CB, Ham and Cell phone with two independent power sources.
    • I have installed light duty roll bars, likely sufficient for the 9 mph experiment.
    • I capture the events on front and rear dash cams.
    • I have burn cream in my first aid kit.
    • My wheels and tires are heavier than stock, offsetting the lift somewhat to aid in reduction of rollover. (A reach I agree but still a minor fact.)
As I prefer to be prepared, please suggest additional mods I can explore, as it is not my intention to criticize others, nor believe all the 'statistics', but rather to test as many real world conditions through the experiences of others.

You might find a seasoned trooper or EMT and talk with them about injury level and/or survival rates for ejection vs buckled in.

There are exceptions on both sides of that, but being willing to bet you are that exception is the decision.

As someone who lost 2 of his best friends because they weren't wearing seatbelts and got ejected from a roll over, yeah..

    Seatbelts > no seatbelts.

Got one of these stored in my center console.

I have a 2015, the chime is configurable, i.e it can be turned off but it has to be done by the dealership. I had mine turned off, when using it around the farm doing it up every time was annoying and so was the chime. 90% of the time I do wear the seatbelt though.

My Motto is, if you're prepared for it, it'll probably happen.
Its backwards for me, friends got ejected before roof was flattened to hood height.

Note to self: when I get another Tacoma, have them disable chime on the lot

I've heard some dealerships not wanting to disable the chime. I can see why. The good thing for us 2nd Gens is the chime eventually stops. The 3rd Gen chime keeps on chiming.

For both, I used Techstream, as others have mentioned. I know people with the 3rd Gens also used the Carista app to turn the seatbelt chime off. I'm not sure if it'll work on the 2nd Gens though. But worth looking into.

I don't know but I can tell you what happens at 25 miles per hour when you don't have your seat belt on and the dude you are riding with hits a stopped car in front of you and you launch out of your seat and pancake the windshield with the top of your head. You compress disc number 4 into disc number 5 of your spine. And then you get to go see a surgeon because your wake up in the middle of the nights, screaming because it feels like someone has their feet on your shoulders and they are trying to pull your head off with all of their might.

But in your case, to each his own. I was just having a laugh anyway, not making fun of you.

Just buy a seat belt extender. They fit in the belt by the center console.
