Seatbelts not retracting.??

    The front seat belts are not retracting very well in my 05 I just bought last night...anyone have any tips or seen this? I am thinking maybe getting some WD-40 or something and trying to spray the mechanism...Not sure gonna take it apart tonight i think.
    They Work fin but when you get out the dangle out the door and it is a PITA!

    I was talking to a friends of mine who said they fall under safety warranty and will have a lifetime warranty and they should get replaced by the dealer...I will find out Monday though for sure.

    Get used to it fellas, these trucks are classic for this behavior. My last truck(97) and this one(05) both do it.

    completely stock
    on my chevy i was able to take it apart un roll and remove the belt from the spool and wind the spool up a couple more turns and rewrap with the belt. Kept good tension after that... my 2010 works great but maybe the spring loses tension over time. Just an idea to try if you feel like it.

    Yeah, it did that in my 89 corolla. The rear seats in my friend's 99 mirage do it, too. My Taco does it sometimes, and it drives me crazy.

    But it locks up and functions as a safety device, so I'm not annoyed enough to do anything about it.

    Yeah mine work properly but when i get out everytime i gott makesure not to slam the door on the seatbelt? Talking to the Toyota tech today...Will keep you posted.

    took it in yesterday...Seatbelts 5yr/60,000 warranty getting new ones wednesday!!
