OP, if you can look around local to you, try to find a shop that does full builds for like vanagans, sports mobiles, or similar. They will have the expertise to look at the seats and recommend either swapping, fabbing brackets, or modifying the existing seats.

You're probably going to find shit answers in this particular forum, but there are definitely people out there in the real world who can help you.

Also, I feel the same way, these seats are not fun once you get long distance travel time on them.

Waiting to see what the new Ford Ranger looks like. I think it comes out in 2018 but if that doesn't work out I am considering the jump back up to a full size. If I do that, I'm going diesel.... REALLY liking the 2017 2500HD and get this...they come with a FUNCTIONAL hood scoop. Rode in my buddy's 2014 2500 Duramax this weekend for a hunting trip and we hit some pretty nasty weather on unmaintained Indian reservation back country. Loved how his truck handled it.

Thanks for the reply, I will look around locally and see if I can find something. If I can sell/swap my seats with something larger without sacrificing safety I may pull the trigger. Ideally I would like to swap the cloth for black leather so this could be a good opportunity.

I loved my Tundra unfortunately a full size just isn't practical. I can barely fit my Tacoma in my driveway, then add city driving and mileage and it's out of the question. I agree with you 100% though, the new Chevy Silverado's and Denali HD's are amazing trucks.

Also make sure the "lumbar" support knob is fully retracted, not sure why they positioned it 3" off the seat bottom as opposed to anywhere near the lumbar portion of the back, but all it does for me is shift my seating position forward a little bit.

I 6' and about 220, with arthritic knees. I traded in my 2012 Limited crewmax for a 2016 Tacoma. I actually have less knee pain driving the third gen than with my second gen, Tundra, or wife's RX350. I just ordered a set of wet okole's for a little more cushion, in addition to the seat protection.

I agree the seat cushion is lacking.

I don't get how it can only go half way to your knees. You're only 3" taller than me and the seat bottom goes pretty close to my knees, if I'm sitting with my butt scooted all the way back. And I have long legs, too.

6 foot 3 190 lbs here. No problem with the seats. 2 hrs+ driving in them straight is just fine for me. Will be getting clazzios since the seats are a little lacking in cushion.

OP, this Tuesday I have an appt at an upholstery shop to tweak the driver's seat in my new '17. i find the seating position too high, and too flat, and with not enough "bucket" so my butt can scoot back a little further, sit lower, and hug me a little more.

they will be shaving foam from the bottom side of the seat bottom, and shaving more from the rear portion of it where it meets the upright back of the seat so it tapers well. we'll do a couple test fits to try and get it right.

after driving 1.5 hours my right leg goes numb. i'm in a MT truck. the truck is close to perfect, but the seat bottom is killing me... luckily the seatbacks seem pretty good.

    i will report back.

My seat is the only gripe I have with my truck. I'm not comfortable in most cars but this seat is up there in terms of constant repositioning.

I will be having an upholstery shop add some foam to the seat bottom to get less hip to knee angle and sit my back further up the seat.

    I'm 5'11" 155 with ballerina legs.

Damn you'd think for over 40 grand they'd develop a halfway decent seat

I agree on the Clazzio's. I think the reason I notice the seats so much is because of the vehicles I came from before the Tacoma. My Tundra definitely had deeper seats and my wife's car has an adjustable seat bottom to extend the length.

Easy now. You obviously test drove the truck first, so mods are now needed.

The seats in my 2nd Gen were way too low for my short-ass, so I did a seat lift.

I also installed a mirror riser bracket. Now I can actually see out the windshield.

How did this turn out for you? I too would like to shave a little off the bottom so I can sit a little lower in my seat.

    Thanks!

Man great to hear!! I definitely want to get this done. How much shaving off did they do and in which areas? How much did it cost? Also I noticed you're in north Texas, I'm in Fort Worth so maybe I could go to the same place.

I also found out that the TRD off roads have taller and firmer cushions in their seat. This probably so you can see over obstacles when off-roading.

I seriously really appreciate your reply.
