Is it just me? Do I just have the wrong body type? OK. My seats are not the newest. But they are killing me. First it was my lower back. I've got the lumbar adjustment maxed. I got a little aftermarket support as well. It's still not great. But now my right hip is starting to really bother me. I already feel it after a half hour in the truck. 2 hours and I have to be careful getting out. I'm 6'2'', about 170 lbs. 50 yrs.I'm in half decent shape. It wasn't this bad in my '01 Rav. I don't have issues in my wife's car.
I've been thinking of having Catskins installed and some extra cushioning but I don't want to drop 2k and find out I'm still in pain.
Does anyone else have comfort issues with their Tacoma? Are there reasonable after market seats that might have more adjustment options?
I miss the seat tilt option I had in my Rav.
    Thanks for any feedback.
    Sorry for the whining.

I have an 07 as well just hit 195K. right at 180K I had the drivers seat bottom foam replaced with a new factory foam cushion as the side bolsters were bad from all the in and out and the foam had deteriorated quite a bit. I wasn't in pain as you have described but it's way better now. I think I paid $ 125 for the new seat foam and 50 to have it installed. Might want to have the hip checked? I am just over 50 myself and have found a host of things that aren't the same as they used to be when we were younger. I did consider looking for some leather seats but would rather spend the money elsewhere.

I have the exact same problem at same age and 250,000 miles. Did you replace the foam cushion? Where would you buy a replacement part?

Are there any other seats with more adjustments that will bolt right in? I'm 6'3" and the TRD seats aren't contoured well for tall people.

Could you test drive a non-TRD Tacoma and see if the standard seat fits you more comfortably? Might be able to find a set from a wreck.

I am having the same issues and after talking to a local Katzkin dealer I am going to install leather and he is going to rebuild the seat foam. After driving the truck for an hour I can barely walk when I get out. ( also over 50). The dealer said he has many complaints about the Tacoma seat foam breaking down.

TRD or not, these seats suck. The headrest angle doesn't help either.

Remove the headrest and reinstall it backwards.

the seats in my last two cars were WAY more comfortable on long trips, a 1992 Volvo 740 wagon, and a 1993 Mercedes 300CE Cabriolet (yeah, yeah, I know Volvo and Mercedes have some of the best ergo seats in the industry). I really miss not having the seat height/tilt adjustable, especially on long trips. The tacoma seats aren't /awful/, not nearly as bad as the seats in my wife's former 2004 Camry LE, but they sure aren't great, either. My 08 Taco TRD OR has the 'SR5' trim package, and some kinda TRD seat covers that have a neoprene center panel.

I have found that I can't quite get comfortable in my seat also. I'm 6'3x185. The seats in my wifes 4Runner are so much better. I drive in mine for about 10 mins and get achy. I'm really tempted to get a 4R as well.

The seats don't really cause me pain, I just don't care for them. They sit way too low. On long drive it bothers my feet and ankles more.
However that isn't a problem that is resolvable. It's an overall design flaw.

I doubt putting in Katzkins is going to fix the issue you are having.

Do you think the 4Runner seats could fit in a Tacoma?

Yep I've never liked the seats in my Tacoma. They don't have enough padding in the right places, the headrest sucks and then there's that bar across the bottom of the seat back right where my tailbone is.

The upholstery shop told me that the lower seat cushion foam collapses and as a result you sit lower in the seat and the rear seat bar hits you just above the hip. They told me that they can fix that with a different foam padding in both the lower seat and seat back. We will see if they are feeding me a line or telling me the truth shortly when they rebuild my seats and install the leather.

Toyota has garbage seats honestly. If yhey built them with better padding or contours like the American brands do, I wouldnt had switched them out like I was forced to.

Nearly every american car I've driven or ridden in, the seats have been worse than the tacomas, biggest problem being too flat, and too soft, like they are supposed to be a barcalounger or something. Give me European seats any day. Even my 1980s Jetta GLI had better seats (Recaros) than the Tacoma or Camry.

    Clazzio seat covers,
I would have to search the thread but two years ago I bought the 1" poly spacer with extended high yield strength bolts ... Ta-da ... success at 6'1" 198 lbs.
