    Not anymore.
You've been listening to John & Ken too much. They are mildly entertaining, but 9 times out of 10, they do not have their facts correct.
They discuss the aberrations (like state employees drawing over 100% of their salary on their pension) as if they are the norm.
The average CalPers retirement benefit for retired employees of the city of Riverside is about $30,000 per year.
I am going to have to work until I am 68 if I want to draw 50% of my salary... and that amount will be just a touch more than a Social Security draw.

Ya because if the owners have 2 million in liquid assets I'm sure they are worried about being out of business for 3 months...sarcasm off...as for having to pay for franchising fees, give me a fucking break. Do you honestly think that these owners are purchasing a franchise expecting to lose money? Do you think they grovel at McDonald's feet asking to be exempt from these fees? You are making it sound like the owners of the franchise are being fucked by having to pay the licensing and franchise fees. They know full well having a McDonalds franchise is a license to print money and even worse how do you think they pay the big Ronald in the sky? They pay from their profits on the local level by buttfucking their employees and paying them a wage that is unfair and downright ludacris. I'm sorry but on this front, you are McWrong.

    No...

What I'm saying is that McDonald's corporate profit has absolutely nothing to do with the government assistance that the workers are drawing.
The workers are not working for McDonald's. They are working for RuMac (the franchisee I worked for), or SoutheastMac, or whatever.
The sign says "McDonald's" but that is literally a purchased name. It is in reality a small businessman who pays for the name, which in turn produces business for him.

Saying that McDonald's corporate is responsible for the wages of the local employees is like saying that Boeing is responsible for the wages of American Airlines pilots. They are two companies that have a business relationship, no more, no less.

And that 2 million in liquid assets is what they require BEFORE they will consider you for a franchise. Before you have purchased the franchise, the property, the building, etc....
That 2 million doesn't go very far in building the business.

Growing up, our neighbors were a family of 14 kids. How they managed, I don't know but the older kids helped the younger kids a lot. Lots of hand-me downs. Mom did daycare and dad was a pressman. Things worked pretty well for them and most of the kids went to college.

You've never worked in the restaurant business;) No one goes into a business expecting to lose money long term but it happens. Owning the right franchise might increase your chances of success but it is not a guarantee. McDonald's failure rate is around 15%. Oh, and on the list of creditors, the franchisee is last meaning everyone else gets paid before they do.

If we drive enough folks into unemployment or underemployment, being a federally funded Taliban Soldier gets more and more appealing.

Had a family of 9 on my street. The father had a very good job but they lived frugally..no new car every 3 yrs or whatnot. In your example perhaps the mom brought the kids to work before they were old enough for school..and yes the older ones help out, plus you have hand me down clothes, bikes, etc.

Not to get too far off the subject, but that's my thought exactly. There are people who cannot have kids and would love to adopt a child.

Judge Judy has mentioned she always raised her children with these 3 things and it's what I've always believed:

If you want to eat, you have to work.
If you want nice things, you have to work harder.
Do not have more children than you can afford to raise.

So corporate can force the stores to use their napkins and salt packets but have no say in pay to the employees? I find that very hard to believe. Multinational companies are set up in fragmented ways to avoid responsibility, but all be damned if you used a brand napkin from another source corporate would slam you for it.

I have a family of four and don't eat fast food much. May be One time a month. Why
    1) It's not healthy.
    2) I can buy steak and potatoes for the same price and have leftovers for the next day.
So why are so many people that only make minimum wage eating out so often. I think many people need to budget their money.
