Well, that's how you end up with cranky geriatrics at town halls/presidential PR photo ops saying shit like "Keep your government hands off my medicare!"

    Agreed.

I make plenty of money -- by no means rich -- and I have no problem paying a higher tax bracket to ensure that my friends and neighbors who aren't in my bracket pay less -- simply because I can afford to.

I also like living in a safe neighborhood, with good roads, good schools, and clean water.

This reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Abe goes into the Social Security office:

"I didn't earn it. I don't need it. But I'll bitch like hell if they take it away!"

Only if you're coming along, sugar.

I don't do anything less than threesomes anymore. Another advantage of a higher tax-bracket.

I miss when the Simpsons were political. That series where Bush I and Barbara moved in across the street was one of my all time favorites.

i honestly can't believe how ignorant alot of you guys are. i actually laughed out loud at some of the posts in this thread.

most of you guys really do live in a bubble, holding a gun while pretending that the rest of the world doesn't really exist.

i can't believe just how many americans spend their whole lives standing up for what they believe is right instead of actually enjoying their lives.

yeah, i'm not one to introduce myself or follow your socialist rules.

i guess shitty healthcare means going anywhere in canada or the u.s. and being fully covered by my gov't healthcare no matter which hospital or doctor i go to.

sounds shitty to me i guess....

I work in healthcare. In the US. And I just want to point out that our system couldn't be worse if we tried.

ANYTHING is an improvement over what we have now, in terms of patient outcomes and quality of care.

Also, pop has worked for Aon (massive global insurance underwriter) for 20+ years...I have perspective from inside both industries. Let me say this unequivocally: Your health insurance company is trying to kill you.

I agree we need some serious improvement, but that is no excuse for you interrupting me insulting the Canadian. I'm doing my best to uphold some stereotypes and you're ruining it.

you guys are so fukcing ignorant to the rest of the world that you don't even realize what kind of trouble you are in. 15 years ago the canadian dollar was worth 1/2 of the u.s. dollar.

canadian dollar is within 2 cents of the u.s. dollar right now. two weeks ago it was 0.1 cents difference.

you guys talk about gun control being bad and muslims being bad and mexicans wrecking your country and all of this sh1t. you guys are in this constant state of crisis and fear that is destroying the country.

if you get shot by one of your guns, you have to go to the right hospital to be treated. when you show up you need to fill out paperwork and show i.d. before they will treat you. this to me as an outsider looks so fcuked up it's embarassing. i've travelled the world and had to go to doctors in other countries and it has been very easy in every country i've been to. the u.s. medical system automatically wants a credit card to be able to do a credit check on you. this gives them the option to keep you there until your account is drained. i feel sorry for you guys.
