How's it going everyone, well I'm doing some research on a fellow runner guy with a large sound system and he put a second alternator in the stock AC pump area, i was wondering if any of you guys have done that? Or a bracket for an above stock position dual alt brace?
Just curious if there are any pre made brackets for this or how hard it is to make one?
    Also I have a 3.4

Already have a 180amp, plan to put a 270amp in stock location and 320 in AC pump area. I have lots of lights, winch, and huge sound system to power.

Almost 600A?!? That's a LOT of lights, winch, and sound! Normally, an upgrade like you and Blackdawg already have (to +/- 150A) is sufficient. I'm with Blackdawg... Go for a second battery setup.

I already have a second battery, that dosent help me with long trips or long demos.
As of right now my 180amp is doing it's job, with the help of the second battery, I have 4 light bars, 2 sets of HIDs. And lots of other small LEDs around the outside and inside, and a 3200rms system right now but I plan to kick it up over 14k soon, and a warn 9.5 winch. That is why I'm trying to get a second alt. I'm going to have 6 3100 batts in back yellow top up front, as two high output alts. I just need to find a way to get the second alt into the AC pump area.

Also, blackdawg just because you have a 2400rms system dosent mean you're drawing full power. According to general audio law, for each 1000rms you need a 100amp alt or aquivilant battery's to maintain charge. You would need a 200amp alt to run you're lights and sound system even with you're second battery. You obviously have you're system tamed down very low if that 140amp is sufficient.

Who drives around blasting 2000w RMS? nobody...if you are..your an idiot for destroying your hearing and enjoy having hearing aids by the age of 35.

I have had my stereo going just fine with all my lights on while winching...with no problems. But i have dual batteries and a good alt.

having a stereo like that is pretty much pointless..only reason mine is this big is due to a waste of money and being a high schooler. If i did it now..be way smaller. I used to blast the shit out of it. Killed 3 batterys in two years with the stock alternator.

But its never down very low..its up plenty loud plenty of times so i can feel it.

Idk if you running parallel batteries or isolated, but i hope its isolated.

If you are set on blowing that much money on a pointless stereo, go for. In that case, you will need to come up with a custom mounting bracket for a second alt. Not sure what alt your using but i hope its not some rewound stock one or HO thing. You'll want one that really puts out high amps at idle motor rpms. Mine puts out 110 amps or so at idle.

Shouldn't be too hard to make something though with the AC bracket. Just some welding. Be a bit of a bitch as you'll have to remove it multiple times for trail and error for filament, but if you can weld, be a weekend project.

I have a compatition system and yes I blast it full tilt while driving. And I will enjoy being deff when older, I am addicted to upgrading my sound system and having one of the loudest in Alaska. My second battery is on an isolator, and I plan to have 5 more added when I get the second alt. right now I have 180 DC alt, birth card shows it producing 187 at engine idle of 1900rpm. And 140 amps at idle.

I'm not set on having it in the AC pump area, I might have it abve the current alt. I don't have the ability to weld yet, I start welding school this summer. But my brother is a welder and has a welder so I will have him make me one, I was just curious if anyone had any prefab ones I could use, or any specs on how I should have it built

Yea I talked to him about it and he had a shop build it down in the states. I've looked around and no shops will touch anything but the big trucks such as dodge, ford, and Chevy due to dual alt kits pre made.
