I have a 2011 Tacoma with the 5 speed automatic trans. When I put the gear selector into low the truck will not move, and if I try to downshift from 2 into low it stops the truck immediately. Yet when I put it into drive there is no problem the truck takes off just fine. Wondering if anyone had any ideas

I would suspect the shift cable is misaligned or stretched out @Dm93
    Thats an odd one

So in other words the transmission locks down when you put it in manual low but takes off in 1st as it should in Drive?
Does the 1 light up on the PRNDL like it should?

Sounds like an internal issue in the transmission, @gearcruncher may have some ideas.

Can you give us some background on the life of your truck ?

When was last transmission service ?

    whats the mileage ?

Will the truck start in nuetral ?

Have you had the pan off ?

Do you always come to a complete stop before selecting reverse ?

Have you ever got the truck stuck in reverse in deep mud or snow ?

Does the transmission select reverse very quickly or does it take a few seconds ?

When you select manual low , the only difference inside the transmission is the " F3 " one way clutch being applied .

Did someone have the transmission apart ? its easy to accidently install the one way clutches backwards .

    Subbed for more info
