So I've been noticing a leak in my coolant system lately, a few months ago I did the timing belt and the other belts and a new water pump with hoses. Ran perfectly with no coolant leaks. I did not change the radiator though, kicking myself in the butt now because I'm 90% sure I.do have a crack in the radiator somewhere. It is the original one too made in 97. Was wondering if I could get another opinion from someone who may have also had the same problem. Before I spend the $180 on a new one.,

All kinds 3 inch body lift/2 1/2 suspension lift. 31/11 1/2/15 tires All work done by myself for years. The only work performed by mechanic was fuel pumps. I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
Check around the top. They have a common leak at the ends. When water goes down you don't notice it as much.

Mine lasted about 18 years til I got a crack. I’d take a look around the front passenger side as it seems the wind is blowing it up. You can try wiping off the residue then see where it’s coming from

    Hi,

It does not look bad, but something is up. Look at your upper tie bar and your radiator gap. They are not even. Also look at the passenger side plastic bracket and mount bolt. Something has moved and broken. I would look underneath to see if something has hit your undercarriage and bottom of your radiator and condenser or have you ever been in a front end impact?

I too was losing coolant. had the red residue along the top and side of my radiator, but mine looked wet. I had no spots on the driveway, really couldn't find the "This is the Problem" per say. But considering the radiator is 18 years old, I decided to replace it for peace of mind. Ordered online from Advance auto parts, and received 25% off coupon. Perfect fit. Took a little wiggling to get the nuts on the end to slide into place, but all the mounting holes lined up perfect. So far it's working out great. No more coolant loss. Good luck with whatever decision your decide on.

Ya you need a radiator, the top tank is leaking, all that pink staining is dried coolant. If you really want to confirm it buy or borrow a pressure tester. Also change at least the upper hose, it’s leaking internally, if you look close it’s leaking out of the reinforcement cords inside the rubber.

Looks to me like it’s leaking or spraying out of a crack and also getting all over the front corner of your battery. Mine cracked diagonally near the neck, just like others have. Seems like a part of the mold that goes first, barring any outside impact damage or other cause to take out the rad first. Seems like age cracks them in the same spot for the most part..?
