Hey everyone!! So I was perusing the internet and had this idea of wiring in a second pair of fog lights…. I have ditch lights and a light bar that are on their own separate switches. However, I’m talking like a second pair of fogs/pods that are routed through the factory fog light wiring or at least to the fog light switch. Has anyone done this or know any threads where this is talked about i.e. wiring diagrams? I tried the search button and ol google but to no avail.

What fogs are you running now? Install some SS3 Max fogs and they'll likely be way brighter than running a second pair of fogs while also being street legal. (it is not legal to run more than one set of aux lights at a time, meaning only running 2 fogs with the headlights are legal).

If you do get a second set but a relay and harness. With all of the lights you already have you should think about a fuse block under the hood.

Ah, I didn’t know that was illegal… Yeah I have aftermarket amber pods for fogs but was wondering how it would work to put in a second set on the same factory harness. Thanks for that tip though

Gotcha yeah I’ll look into that… I’ve seen those ones where it’s a bus with one power and one ground with fuses for aux lights, etc. Do you have any good recommendations?

What lights are you running now and looking to add?

The early 2nd Gens OEM fogs were 45w each. You can check the fog fuse under the hood and see what the rating of the circuit is, depending on the pods you plan on running their is likely capacity on the circuit to run 2 pairs on the OEM wiring.

Oh ok, thanks for the tip. Right now I'm running Cali Raised 3x2 18W LED Amber pods with an adapter to the factory harness. I was considering getting a second set and mounting them more outwards pointing, say on my bullbar, for a better angle of light distribution. The amount of light/output is fine but I was wanting a wider angle of light beam. I know it would be easier to just run a separate switch but I thought it would be neat-o to have them wired into the factory harness and routed to the oem fog light switch.

Even at 18w x2 on each side you are still at lower power than stock bulbs, so no concern there. However the Cali pods are small spots, and very low output. If you switched your pods to real fogs you’d get what you are looking for out of a single light with a very wide pattern distribution that is far more useful.

This is the Cali pattern (shown in white)

Also note that spots like you have don’t have cut offs and should not be run with oncoming traffic. They are not a street legal pattern. If interested in amber (and not yellow) for early 2nd Gen I’d look at the amber Morimotos. Although you will get much higher performance out of selective yellow SS3s.
