    @CaliRaisedLed has one.
Have not looked at it much but looks like a good deterrent from the pics I've seen

I don't have to worry about it, but if you find someone/shop that works with AR 400 or 500 plate and they can rip you a few strips and have them welded on appropriately there is no Sawzall or cut off wheel going to slice that stuff in hurry if at all. Recently used some for targets and some bucket parts that I have cutting on the plasma table.

You hear that all the time … “but I live in a nice neighborhood “ well, thieves don’t go to shitty neighborhoods to steal.
Sorry about this, I live in S.CA too and it’s like a free for all here

Outlawing scrap yards taking them would have a minimal impact. That would only stop the occasional lone tweaker. It won't do anything to stop the organized groups shipping them by the hundreds/thousands overseas.

Wrap that cat with steel leader and treble hooks. Police will have a laugh watching the thief trying to extricate himself from those hooks.

No one gets free of fish hooks without help.

Don’t do this. Purposefully causing bodily harm to a thief, while potentially satisfying, is not the solution.

It is a solution, but it's a great way to wind up in legal hot water. Especially in CA.

RCI front skid and transmissions skid, and the transmission skid comes with free cat covers for now ... cat covers are 1/4 in aluminum. If the theives can get steel bold heads cut off from below they can get the cats.

Without risk, no. But they better come prepared to cut through 4 steel bolts instead of 1/4 inch aluminum section.

Agreed. Normally honest people do not have the acquired skill of criminal classes in not-quite-crossing-the-line. You would be in the back of a squad car and need an attorney of your own, getting deeper with every word you say.

I drop my boat in the lake a dozen times a year. I can't be responsible what I pick up at the launch.

Rioting mobs destroyed businessed owned by hard-working individuals during 2020. They were freed by a "keep criminals out of jail" bail fund by very smart and opportunistic lawyers. Good luck using that argument on them.

This is turning towards a certain banned topic.

OP, get a cat shield. Or park in a secure location. Or both.

I guess we aren't allowed to protect our investments anymore. I got nothing more to offer.

    Thank you.

You can protect your investment without purposefully causing harm.

    Cat shield = ok
Contraption designed to inflict harm = not ok

It is the price of civilization. We must be better than those who prey on others, and defend ourselves within the limits of the law. I would not be able to look myself in the mirror if I did such things as you wish over just a catalytic converter. For family ... time and circumstances will tell.
