Looking for the opinion of the 2nd Gen Tacoma crowd at TW,as I love my Tacoma and would expect to get informed views here from folks that share similar values.:D

If you where going to buy another vehicle to have along with your Tacoma, and you wanted it to be a SUV and capable off-road, what would you buy?

I am leaning toward the 4Runner Trail Edition or the FJ Cruiser (Trail Teams or not?).

What would you buy and why? What else should I be looking at?

New 4 runner is getting to be as ugly as the Tundra.
I think Toyota hired the idiot that designed the Pontiac Aztek.

I would prefer 4 doors, but the FJ suicide doors are OK.

the 4runner is nice...but kinda "soccer mom" or "family guy"...

the FJ is a little more cool IMO. and would probably be a fun vehicle.

I also like the Nissan xterra.

but...since you already have a DC Tacoma...I'd say fukit and get the Vette :D

I would love to see a 2012 4 Runner with 37's and armor all around. But its kind of a long and expensive vehicle compared to the FJ. The FJ's suicide doors are sweet tho.

Good idea, but they are huge and heavy. And it probable would get pretty beat up on the trail.

That is a rather bold statement! I think the tundra and the new 4r are pretty sweet. The Aztec... Not so sweet.

Wayne Cherry who Is credited for the Azteks design was nominated for Car Designer of the Century. He was also involved with the design of the Camero and Solstice.
What he and GM where thinking with the Aztek I'll never understand.

To the OP, if you can get away with 2 doors, plus the suicide doors, I say another Tacoma! If not and you can afford it, I'd go for the new 4runner.

    Shawn.

Lexus RX350 because they are bitchen. Tried to get one for my wife but she wanted a loaded jeep grand Cherokee

Edit: the v8 4runner would be tits. Do those v8 4x4 4runners have lockers? Even better if they do. That's it

Are you looking for a new SUV or are you looking for something used to play with. If I was looking for something to play with I would look for a used jeep tj or an XJ. They are so easy to work on and there are so many aftermarket parts available. If I was going to buy new then I would get the Toyota FJ

Looking for both a new SUV and something I can do some serious off-roading in. Hauling kids is a plus, but I have other kid haulers.

    Thanks for all the replies!
