Secondary Air Injection Pump Location?

Can anyone on here direct me as to where to look on my Third Gen V-6 motor in order to see the Secondary Air Injection Pump? Left side? Right side? Front? Back? Top? Bottom?

Air? If you mean fuel* then it's on the passenger side head close to the firewall. If you actually mean air then I'm curious as to where that's at as well.

 

Not sure if there is one on this truck, my 2015 had it as it would make a fart noise when I turned the key off which was that air pump.

 

Yes, I do mean air. It is part of the emission control system.

Are you doing the 8.6hp performance filter mod.

 

It's air. It injects air into the exhaust to help heat up the exhaust gases faster which gets the cats cracking

Looks like the pump on a 2nd Gen, it has had that filter added cause the stock foam filter has a habit of being ingested

 

Jeff1795, I have found what you show in the drawing, but it is not the component for which I search. But thank you very much for taking the time to do this for me.

Diablo169, yes, I am considering the filter mod. Not for the HP boost (ha) but because several people have reported the degraded foam filter causing the air pump to fail. Unfortunately, I do not believe that the photos you included are for the third gen 3.5 l motor. If that is the pump tucked in next to the windshield washer fluid tank, well then, I don't have it. But thanks for your help.

@shakerhood this thread is confusing the heck out of me.

 

The new 3.5 does not have the secondary air injection pump. The 2.7 has it and the 4runner 4.0 has it. The new motors will be designed to not need that noisy air pump.

No, it's a 16' 2.7L

 

I was looking to do this mod too. Good to know the 3rd gens don't need it.

 

So, no pump in the new 3.5 l motors. Good to know.
