Same here but I didn't have the time to do it myself. Friday night (April 29, 2016) I cold started up my 2012 DCSB Off-Road after work (bought new in 2012) and got both the CEL and the Trac Off light. As I started driving, the best I could get was about 25 mph. So straight to the dealer where it threw a p2440 code. They ordered parts and I just picked it up today, Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Replaced the Switching Valve Assembly (25710-31022) and the gasket for a total of $638.58 in parts and $216 for labor ($854.58). 56,711 miles on the odometer. Runs great now but it sounds like this part is pre-conditioned to go out between 50K and 60K.

    Too few to list.
Toyota won't do sh*t if no one complains to the right people. It's ridiculous this part fails under 60K. Mine being at 7800 miles!

Maybe we can get Toyota to at least do a TSB or extended warranty on this.

Yea I am going to file a complaint- that's bullshit.

Not sure- wouldn't hurt to ask??
It may be US as well, as she was quick to respond if Canada doesn't cover under warranty, she doesn't see why US would.

Thanks. Might just fork over the money to get it fixed or at least get the part. I hate when the CEL is on.

So just to confirm- no need for me to order any gasket correct? It will already be assembled inside the unit?

I would follow through with your complaint to Toyota, the more of us that do the better. I took mine to corporate and finally got tired of having my 2012 53kmile truck sitting broke in the driveway because of this part. Mine ended up going into limp mode and then it was just un drivable. It is BS Toyota wont fix these parts for the Tacoma guys, they take care of the Tundra folks regarding these parts.

    Good luck with your repair!

Already put in a complaint but if there's a website link or something I'll do that as well.

I also have 12 Sport, made and bought in July '12, 52K. Lucky me not having this problem yet. Mine turn on at start for a few seconds and off at shut down. Any way I assume any this kind of pump and valve can be damage by debris and moisture, sooner or later depends on ambient temp/enviroment. So it is best to take them out and clean them up every year and lube the valves to prevent rust? I am going to do that before it happens. I never knew it until last night. Good luck to you all who have to deal with this problem.

    Good luck

I don't know if any way to lube the valves, but they're might be a way. If it's necessary, then it should be in the maintenance section.

Does anyone know if they reconfigured this on the 2016's?

Ok..Wasn't fun to get to the nuts on the rear exhaust connections or the bolts to the front connection but I got the job done and it appears to be fixed. Shame on Toyota for not at least providing this part under warranty.

Good job. You didn't have to replace pump and vacuum switch, correct?

Is that your rear valve that we are looking at in the picture? That's exactly how mine looked and various others as well. I wonder if the rear valve is getting to much heat to it and thus deteriorating.

    Fuck ya @njdevil316 !

I'm worried since there's some noticeable rust on the bolts, that that'll snap while breaking loose-

anyone suggest anything other than pb blaster?

The rear valve was only slightly worse than the front. The carbon buildup in both was unbelievable and both were actually stuck open. When I removed the pump and hoses there was lots of moisture so I think that's the major culprit leading to the failure.

Thanks for the kind words @ruffridha9!
