Just got the dreaded p2442 code on my 2012 Taco at 58,000 miles. I decided to ordered the diverter valve for $430 and installed it myself. If you have any mechanical skills at all this part isn't that hard to replace. Took me 1.5 hours. Good luck.

Toyotaonlineparts.com was the cheapest place I found.
    Diverter valve #25710-31022. $429.98
    2-Gasket air tube #17377-32010 $0.92

It was delivered in 4 days.

You need 10 mm and 12 mm deep and shallow sockets to remove it. The bottom valve bolt is the toughest to get to. The valve bolts are 12 mm and the ridged air lines nuts are 10 mm

Thanks for the link. I notice today they are up $5 to $434. Not a big deal though in the big picture. Did you have any trouble breaking loose any of the fasteners especially the air tubes or did you use blaster on them for a couple of days first? The air tube bolts look a little whimpy and I don't want to crank too hard on them.

Nope, they were snug but they broke loose fairly easy. The tube towards the cab are just nuts only. And the tube towards the front are bolts.

2440/2442 popped up 12/28/2016. My truck was 8 days out of warranty with 39,500k miles.
Back and forth with Bob Tyler Toyota as well as regional and corporate Toyota. I have never been a triskaidekaphobe however they declined to provide a good will warrant of Friday 13th.
I informed them this is my 3ed new Toyota in 12 years and they would lose a customer for life if they did not make the situation right. They still declined assistance.

Man that just isn't right. Someone at Toyota needs a boot up their ass.

Toyota quoted me $1900.00 for the repair. Being the suspicious person that I am, I took it to my mechanic. The air pump which Toyota wanted to replace is fine. The valves are being replaced for $850.00 out the door. Not happy but I will take it. An honest mechanic saved me $1000.00.
    Toyota.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I was going to buy the Bypass Kit from Hewitt-Tech for $400. Until Toyota repaired mine under
    a "Goodwill" Warranty.

I did notice in this thread and others that some were covered under "goodwill" warranty while others were not. I have no idea why they will provide "goodwill" warranty for one but not the other. The inconsistency is at best frustrating.

I can imagine, I bought the valves for $350ish and swapped them in an hour so it wasn't so bad. $1800? Nope.

Can you let us know where you bought the valves?

I have p2442 and p2440, obd2 app says that bank 1 and 2 are stuck on the valves.

Does that definitively diagnose the valves as the issue or could it still be the pump?

I took the casing off the pump and the filter was fully in tact, pump seemed clean and i was able to manually spin the impeller without resistance. Is there a better way to diagnose the pump? Just want to make sure I buy the correct replacement part.

    Thanks.

I found it on "re-manufactured" on eBay for $365 but I was hoping to be able to find it somewhere that could get it to me before the weekend.

I got about 100 miles out of it from the last time I cleared the codes but it came up and cleared it about 5 times in 15 miles since then.

Has anyone else installed the Hewitt-tech bypass kit? There doesn't seem to be much feedback on it. I'd hate to spend this kind of money on something that should be handled by Toyota but I'd also like the peace of mind knowing I won't be stranded in limp mode when the truck decides to throw the light.
