I could be wrong though. I know the 12’s had a lot of problems with the system but they improved it for 13-15. Since they all have it I’m just assuming they are all covered. A couple people put a pic up of the bulletin a few pages back. I’m sure it shows it

    2012, 76,2xx miles when mine threw a P2440 and P2442.

I had a P2441 for a couple of weeks that I would just reset (wasn't causing any issues that I could tell). Finally had a chance to take the vehicle to Toyota for the P2441, and a mile after leaving home, the truck went into limp mode and showed P2440 and P2442. Dealership had just done this same fix on a Tacoma the day before, so i had to wait a day for parts. No biggie. Even better for $0.

I've already had mine replaced once, and the CEL came on again yesterday w/ P2443 code. I cleared it with my scanner, but I'm expecting another replacement in my future... This is with 42k on the odometer.

Between this, ABS trying to kill me again, and other day to day annoyances, I'm seriously looking to get rid the Tacoma and move on to something else.

I've had the CEL/TRAC OFF lights come on and off for months but my NY inspection was due this month (2015 w/ 34,000 mi), pulled the codes and sure enough p2443. Took 3 weeks to get it scheduled for the part swap and even after it needs to be "drive cycled" before they can finally clear it and pass the inspection. Curious how many people have had this done only to have the issue crop up again down the road (no pun intended). Really wouldn't want to put up with this repeatedly, even under warranty.

That's my worry - the 2012's are supposed to be worse than the later years, so I expect multiple replacements / repairs on mine. It will be leaving before the extended warranty expires.

Woohoo! I received my reimbursement check (100%) from Toyota this afternoon! Their claims process worked! $908, sheesh! Just wanted to provide some confirmation/follow-thru that they're responding to the claims submitted in response to their letter. Good luck to the rest of you all.

I received mine today as well, $498. Glad to have that money back, hit a hiccup with my claim but Toyota made it right and processed my reimbursement.

Planning on getting mine replaced soon. I have been riding around for about 2-2.5 years with the bypass module on my truck waiting for the bulletin or a recall on the repair. Even when it gets repaired I will prob put the bypass module back on cause I know it will just go out again in the future.

I have ran the module for about 2-2.5 yr and have only had a few problems. I have had a couple codes throw every now and again during that time frame but never sends the truck into limp mode, I just clear them while driving and carry on. I honestly think the race trac where I was getting gas was the problem for those codes cause I stopped getting gas there and never had the codes again. Anyway the bypass module has def paid for itself for me allowing me to continue to drive my daily driver 64 mile round trip a day to/from work.

Adding myself to the list. 2012 and just happened last week (CEL/Trac Off | Code P2443). I was at around 62,700 miles. Luckily this thread helped me know what I was dealing with, and had no issues whatsoever at the dealer. Fixed right up and on my way. Bummed that I had to deal in the first place, and to hear that it may not be the last of it. Still love my truck though.

My 2012 just popped up with codes P2440 and P2442 this morning. Lucky I was close and had just left the house, so I took the car to work. I've already called and confirmed with the dealership on the warranty. My question is, can I drive the truck in limp mode for 25-30 miles without damage? That's the distance to the dealership. Trying to avoid a tow service.

I just remembered that I have roadside assistance through my insurance and I can get a tow.

Drive it to dealership in limp mode , then have them give you a loaner while they replace valves and pump. It's all covered by corporate.

Lucky for me, I don't need a loaner. Just leery about driving in limp mode. I still think I'm gonna get it towed. It'll be easier for me. It'll kill me driving that far doing only 30-35 lol.

Hey Guys. Haven't been on in a while. Sold the taco to get out of debt. Glad to see Toyota finally doing something about this. Should have started this years ago, like 2013. But hey better late than never. Hope this thread was beneficial. Never expected it to stick around this long.

My 2012 had the CEL/Trac-off lights, limp mode happen this week at 88K miles so I came to the site to research. Limped in to the dealer and they confirmed. They provided the diagnostics, parts and repairs and a loaner AT NO COST TO ME. Although it was a huge inconvenience, I was pleased with the outcome and the way Toyota has stepped up to make it right.

Awesome OP. makes me think I need to call corporate to see if they’ll reimburse me for labor. Toyota covered my parts and loaner, but i paid $4XX something in labor.
