I wish that were the case. Mine have been replaced twice (in one year) for stuck valves... 45k miles on my truck. The first time Toyota covered it under warranty... the second time they would only cover parts.

My story but need advice/assistance. Bought 2012 V6 3 years ago with 56,000 miles on it and have had 0 issues so far. A couple days ago it went limp and threw code P2440 only. Not both codes. Can be driven over 40 mph if acceleration is babied from stop. Took to toyota and come to find out that since the truck was originally from Canada that I would have to take there for it to be covered by extend warranty. Called Toyota and they said the same thing.

Money is super tight (kid on the way, surpirse) but I will buy the part and change myself if needed. My question is does anyone have advice on what to do next or link to the parts I need? I saw a diy write up on this but the parts now cost way more then when he bought them, about $600 is best I could find. I'm not trying to be cheap but whatever I can do to lighten the cost is needed.

Any help would be most appreciated.

There's a pump on ebay for $78 if that's what you need. And I thought I remember reading that the Tundra 5.7L valves body from Dorman works (Amazon $235.95), although I think the two connectors are in different positions and you might have to undo a zip tie/electrical tape of the Tacoma wiring harness to plug them in.

I'm currently saving up to have OVTune turnoff my system and tune with 05-11 headers and eliminate the system altogether.

Thanks for the reply. Dont think I need the pump as I can hear it running and shutting off on startup. The truck didn't throw the code until I started it up one day and they were there. I opened the pump to check the filter and it was just in there loose, not sure it that is part of the issue.

Anymore info on the tundra valves if they work or not would be great.

Well the Tundra valves only lasted me 30,000. Both codes just popped back up. Seems like there’s moisture issue that’s freezing inside the valves. About to buy a fourth set of valves. Is there a bypass yet for the 2013’s?

All of this just happened to me. 2012 v6 , 53k miles. Valves and pumps all covered. The "guy" told me the ext warranty was just for 2012s. I hope they made some improvements on this system. I would hate to have this happen again. 3:30am Sunday morning, all geared up with boat, trailer, bait, rods etc and voila (Trac off, Engine). I had chugged an energy drink so there was no going back to bed. Ended up drinking beer and watching ESPN at 4am. :-( , LOL. Anyway, I get her back tomorrow morning. I will asks them Qs about what they have done to fix this problem. I will post what they say.

UPDATE: Tech claims the parts are updated and improved to reduce moisture but the air flush is the same (only on start up). He said the uni filter is not a bad idea. 12mo warranty on parts. That is pretty much end of story. Fingers crossed. He said 13-15 are still on their own.

My code came back!! I cleared the p2443 code in 11/17 with 67k and it came back at 86k. Weird huh? Going to the dealer ship today and hopefully it’s covered under the extended power warranty

I don't understand why all of yalls valves/ pumps keep messing up. The one one on my 14 has been underwater in muddy water several times. No problems yet ? ? ? I expect it at anytime. I have another air injector and switching valve just in case

This problem just came up for me. 2012 V6 PreRunner with 119k miles.

Check Engine Light and Trac Off Light are on. Fingers-crossed that limp-mode won't kick in. I still have 50 miles to drive before I can make it home. I remembered that I received this letter last year and had kept it in the glove box. I'm bringing it in to the dealership first thing in the morning. Hopefully it will be painless.

Just flipped a p0418 for a relay. I have done the United filter mod and the foam was in great condition. It still runs on startup and shut down so I don’t know if it’s the valves or not. Took the hose off and blew into it and had a lot of pressure so I’m guessing they are closed. It is bank 1 so maybe that is staying closed the whole time. Thankfully my dad works for a dealership so won’t cost me arm and a leg but will update Saturday afternoon because not many threads on 0418 code.

Just so y'all know, the little vacuum hose to the switching valve will clog up. I have seen it twice now, but both were on 4 cylinders.

I will have them look at it. Weird that it clogged after I took out the foam tho.

Had the same P2440 & P2442 codes as others last week...'12 Tacoma with 165,xxx miles...about a week after warranty expired for unlimited mileage. Wasn't aware of warranty until searching this site...wife wanted to call and beg, but I wanted to get 'er done and submit documentation for refund. Either way, after searching online for valve/manifolds and seeing the Tundra aftermarket for $220'ish vs Tacoma OEM for $500, wondered about swapping Tundra valves onto my manifold. I then found Twalt87's info on page 36...voila!!! Works brilliantly...after a couple broken/frozen bolts drilled out and re-tapped, all's well...thanks again!

PS - It also appears to me that the check valves are the initial failure, allowing hot exhaust gasses into the manifold to cook the shutoff valve's rubber seal and gasket. Like others, this exhaust valve side is WAY worse than the other, but both failed.

So they told me since I have a cold air intake on it they have to splice wires and get a new pump because he couldn’t find the plug. I find it funny that the pump is still working so it has to be plugged in right?
