1000 posts on a stupid EPA mandate that is completly unnecessary... I did speak with a Toyota mechanic who did my new system at 68k and he said that the newer valve systems are supposedly coated with something to prevent rust and corrosion . He also said he doesn't see near as many Tacoma's as Tundras with this issue. FWIW, I really couldn't tell if he was blowing smoke or actually had the facts. He sounded genuine though, so I suppose it's possible. Just seems like a stupid thing for Toyota not to get this fixed when it's costing them over and over again. I wonder if failure of the valves has to do with the climate that people live in - dryer/less temp change = less prone to corrosion.

Can anyone chime in on this... I have a 2012 DCSB and at 68k my air valves and pump were replaced through Toyota (previous to me owning). I was under the assumption that 2012's did NOT have the "feature" where the pump runs for a little while after like 2013-2015's do. Today, I moved my truck back into the garage after washing it, and after I turned off the key, the pump stayed running for a few seconds? Did Toyota actually update the whole system or am I wrong on how this works?

Total speculation on my part but perhaps it was running just because it was doing its normal run on cold start and your drive into the garage was so short it was still running.

Welp limo mode engaged. Taking to stealership for a third time. Hopefully I pull the other codes to get it covered

So took it to the dealership and have to buy a new pump after all. Is not covered because there hasn’t been any calls on the 15. Hopefully they will help out a little on the cost but not holding my breath. However the dealership was shockingly helpful. Also, if you have the unifilter save your foam and if you throw these codes put it back in before you take it. Hopefully it’s just the pump and nothing else.

I've been dealing with these two codes now for over a year on my 06 2.7 w/ 188,000 miles. Im just used to my check engine light being on. But curious to know if there is a way to fix the valve part myself instead buying a new one and if so, how. The little blower fan works, but at some point it ate the foam filter before I knew about the issue with these ridiculous emission gizmos that don't even work. I have manual trans and it's never gone into a limp mode but the past year it has started doing this hiccup thing while at low RPM and slight acceleration. I use mid-grade or non-ethonal and seems to help the hiccup thing. Can't help but think the hiccupping is a result of the these parts throwing codes.

I would say pull the one injector off since it’s a 2.7 and also check any warranty’s by calling the Toyota 800 number to see if your vin is covered. Mine isn’t...... yet. Pull the hoses off and clean out with pressurized air and also YouTube Tacoma air injector clean and there is a ton on there. I would also let Toyota know that your foam piece is gone or partially gone and see if they send you a new one. Keep that part and put the unifilter mod on. If it does keep giving you codes then put the foam piece in and take it in. If you go in with the unifilter mod on it will void the warranty even tho all the techs will say you did the right thing. Toyota really f’ed up this stupid emissions bs.

Thanks. I have no hope or faith in thier 800 customer service, but if it's all that I can try.... Was there a notice mailed by Toyota about a special service campaign for this?

Go back a page. It was on a 12 but I know 05-06 tundras got recalled so might have a shot. I’m out 700 bucks and going on 2 weeks now without my truck for the damn pump. Needless to say I’m pretty pissed

My truck threw 2443 "valves stuck" code today. No limp mode. I'm covered until November 2021 under the warranty enhancement. I might just keep clearing the codes until closer to the cut off date so my new parts are installed in 2.5 years and last longer.

    Any thoughts on this plan?

Get them fixed. If they go bad again, you’re still covered. Mines been done twice now...

I think it's 2012 only, at the beginning of the thread there is a pic or two of the document with the parameters of the enhancement.

I know for me it's 10 years 100 000 miles or something and I don't rack up many miles. No way I will hit 100 000 in the next 2.5 years.

My 2012 went into limp mode this morning. Stopped by dealer on my way in to work, said it's only covered up 150,000 miles, I have 153,800. So I pulled out of the bay and parked and called Toyota corporate and they got to looking around and found that it has been extended to 10 years/unlimited miles. Dealer just called and my truck has been repaired. $0 owed. If you are past the 150k window you may want to revisit your dealer.

Second year in a row having to address the P2443 code to get the truck inspected. Does it seem like there's been a more permanent fix or do I just keep doing the same thing every year at inspection time? Both times they've replaced the valve (both under warranty and no cost to me other than the emotional scar of driving a corolla for a week) the code was back on within a day or two, tells me there's gotta be something else going on. I love the truck otherwise, but ugh...
