When you ordered a quantity of "1" did you get both valves and gaskets?
    I'm looking to order asap...

I ordered 1 each of the valve, and 2each of the gaskets, the gaskets come individually.

Hey, I am out in Grand Bay.

Not sure about the warranty, I will certainly push to have them do something if need be. I scheduled an appointment for Friday so I will update the post once the truck has been checked and diagnosed.

So after searching around found a new air pump on eBay for under $200. Took apart the pump that was giving me issues and this is what I found. Broken fan blades and water in the reservoir. Fuck Toyota for trying to charge me $1300 to repair this part. It took me 2 minutes and zero labor. Part came with a 1yr warranty as well. IMG_0792.jpg IMG_0791.jpg

Were there plastic pieces in the pump? Did you check the air line that feeds the valve assy? I'd be a little worried about where all that plastic went. Good job on doing it yourself and saving lots of money.

    This.

That plastic is now sitting at the valves with a very real chance of keeping the valve from closing and putting you into limp.

Yeah I'm thinking that too, is there any way I can look into the valve and clean it out. I'm going to replace it, just waiting on parts to come in. Any recommendations would help. Looking to hit the road this week last thing I want is limp mode.

Check the hoses from the pump to the valves. The plastic pieces are likely still in there.

my 2013 reg cab 4x4 is throwing p2440,p2442 and p0418 codes. i reset them from time to time with my Bluedriver but my truck does not go into limp mode and drives fine. guess i will live with the codes or leave the Bluedriver plugged in and clear the codes when the light comes on.

The dealership checked my 2012 today, p2442 was found, secondary air injection valve stuck open bank 2 requiring valve replacement. $1500.00 + taxes. I asked to speak with the SM but he was out for the day. I called Toyota Canada which was a complete waste of time.....he kept saying that there was no recall on the tacoma only the Tundra. I told him I was not calling to inquire about an existing recall for the Tacoma as I knew there wasn't one but the reason for my call was to push for a recall to match what is being done for the Tundra.

He acted as though this was the first time he had heard of this issue with the Tacoma but I see other TW members have also called Toyota Canada so they are certainly aware. I took his name and told him I was going to follow-up with the SM next week but if I didn't get an appropriate response I would be calling Toyota Canada back b/c I wasn't going away. I told him that I was disappointed in the way Toyota was trying to pass the responsibility off to the buyers knowing there is the same existing issue that has been identified and recalled in their fleet of vehicles already. Parts were ordered today and should be in next week so we will see what next week brings.......

***as an FYI, warranty in Canada for this is 3 year 60,000 km. My truck is 5 years with 61,000 Km's ***

Yup....might be time to look at a trade. I purchased the Tacoma thinking reliability but if they keep fixing this issue with the same shit parts its only a matter of time before it happens again.....doesn't leave one feeling confident in their product!

Sucks you got no support from your dealer or Toyota but not very many have had that luck. I don't understand why they wont cover this like they did for the Tundra's or why it wont fall under the emission warranty. I was still under powertrain warranty when mine failed and they wouldn't cover it under that either and mine was in at 29k for the valves stuck closed codes as well. So my truck had a documented history of the issue and they still wouldn't help me out.

i would buy a $100 bluedriver or a $70 ultraguage and leave it connected to clear the codes when they pop up. it is what i am doing, no way in hell would i pay what toyota wants for these air pumps or valves. it is a crappy design that will fail again.

That wont work if the valves are stuck open, I have a scan gauge in mine and I couldn't keep the codes cleared long enough to be able to drive the truck. They would consistently come back just as fast as clearing them.

I took my valve off and cleaned it and made my own block off plate so that no exhaust gas will ever clog it again. but my valve was not seized up to begin with, so maybe that is why I can clear the codes.

Got my new diverter valve and body on Friday. Removed old body and installed new body in about an hour (along with oil/filter change and cleaning of air filter). So far so good. No CEL, codes or dreaded limp mode... fingers crossed I'll get 114,000 miles on the new part.

Thanks to you guys that supplied part #'s and added advice.

This is a great idea, might have to throw some block off plates inbetween the valves and the valve assy. You don't happen to have pictures of what you did, do you?
