    Too few to list.
It's covered under the CA 7yr or 70K warranty. If you're over the mileage, then it won't be but you can still call Toyota's customer service line to see if they can do anything for you. Others have had Toyota cover 50% of cost and some dealerships have done Goodwill warranties.

    Dealer called...

He said they've submitted it to Toyota to be covered under the 7yr / 70k mile warranty (I'm at 55k miles). He said he's pretty confident they'll cover it, but no guaranties. Should hear something from them tomorrow. If they say no, he'll have me call the number to ask about the Goodwill warranty. He said 9 out of 10 times, they say yes (but I think I read it's just a partial they cover?).

If both options say no, the bill will be $2.4k ($2k for parts, $400 for labor).

7/70 is state law. They can't deny it.

Toyota told me 5/50 last week. That was from corp not the dealer.

Yeah, but CA makes Toyota play by a different set of rules.

What the dealer told me was, there's the standard 5/50, then there's a CA state law of 7/70 that applies to 'some' emission components, and another state law of 80k (no mention of a year limit) that applies to 'some other' emission components.

Hoping DriverSound is right and I fall into the 7/70 category.

And correct you are. They just called, covered under the 7/70.

    Whew...

Hello everyone... I don't have a Tacoma but a '12 GX 460. I am not yet afflicted by this issue but saw posting on Tundra forums and fellow 460 owner on another forum who got hit with it confirmed that if you disconnect the air pump electrical connector the limp mode won't occur. I know a workaround until you get it fixed and CEL will still show up. Not sure if this also works on motors other than the 4.6L though.

There is a DIY fix thread that looks like it could be done with minimal mech skills can someone link it for @Bikerjames ?

My post is about 5 pages back, but here's my update from March 2017. Call and file a complaint with corporate if this problem happens to you so they have to document it and consider working on a recall/redesign.

It took about two days to negotiate and repair after initial estimate:
#1 called the corporate number 800-331-4331 and filed a complaint on the defective part after dropping off the vehicle. Dealership can't call for you but was upfront in asking if I needed the corporate phone number. I kept coming back to the idea on the call/complaint that Toyota knows the part is defective as documented on here but won't issue a recall. (I also asked to take the Customer Satisfaction Survey after each call to corporate).
#2 the dealer's diagnostic verified that P2440-P2442 secondary air injection pumps are stuck open due to "shedding debris".
#3 The Pump Assembly was $893.35, the Valve Assembly was $657.14 and the initial total estimate with labor was $2569.35.
#4 Called corporate to follow up and we negotiated to my cost being $1552 (the parts and tax). I paid no labor cost. (sounded like they usually negotiate to pay 50% or 100% of labor costs.
#5 Still voiced an issue about the same part numbers being installed meaning that the design problems with those parts have not been corrected. The new parts are only covered for 1 year.

I will give anyone wondering a heads up. After getting the codes and replacing the parts myself, everything is working great. I called Toyota for a reimbursement but they wont do anything because I never took it to the dealer. I am an ex Toyota Tech and have the means of checking codes and doing the repairs.

Kinda sucks but if the dealer doesn't see the truck or do the repairs, you are SOL.

Luckily I work at a shop and got the parts for wholesale price so I saved a lot of money there.

In doing the Fog Anytime mod, I noticed that I have a relay spot and wiring for an "Air Pump Heater". I do NOT have a relay installed in said spot. See a lot of others who do though.

Obvious question is...do the other 2012s also not have this relay? Would it prove beneficial to install a relay into the junction box to possibly avert these potential issues.

Holy shit. This is all new info to me. I will check my 2012 to see if that relay is there. I would think that it should be right?

No idea if there should be one or not.

Just throwing ideas out there for possible things to look into. I spent a good minute looking for a wiring diagram, couldnt find one. Maybe someone with a little computer time can search??

Mine just failed on my 2012 with 24,500 miles on it. My Platinum extended warranty just paid for itself! Dealer said it would have cost me $1100.

Sucks that it went out, but that's some impressively low mileage for a 2012 (at least from a Southern Californians point of view. We tend to put lots of miles on our vehicles).

I put less than 6000 a year on it when I was driving to work every day. Now working from home I've only put 1000 on it in the last year!

The saga continues.... When are they (Toyota) going to do the right thing and either cover us or issue a recall.
