They replaced both in mine too... twice. Loaner was provided each time. Good luck OP, hope they get you fixed up quickly.

So they ordered just the pump, but I checked with the parts guy and they had the valves in stock. I guess they are replacing both as well as the pump cover, which it says the valves, pump, and pump cover are covered by the warranty. I’m glad I checked the parts, not sure if they were planning on replacing just the pump. Either way the parts guy and service people said ok, and were helpful. Now just waiting while they do the work.

Long post that is related. This happened to me about a month ago when the truck turned 102k mi, went into limp mode during a camping trip, went home to diagnose but for some reason I could not get my OBD2 scanner, pep boyz's or autozone's to give me codes (communication link error). Disconnected the battery to reset codes and be able to drive the truck during this time (about 5 times). Didn't always go into limp mode, sometimes took a couple days.

Took it to the dealer, explained the issue just as above. Gave me a call after a weekend, codes that came up were P1604, P2440, P2441 and P2442. They replaced the air injection pump and switching valves free of charge under the recall in a couple of days. Great service and happy with how they dealt with the situation, no issues whatsoever (no loaner though).

I've put about 1000mi on the truck since the recall was performed and I feel that its lost power and I'm getting a little worse MPGs, it also seems like the transmission takes longer to lower a gear for ascents and sometimes also takes longer to shift into higher gears after them. Going through my typical commute route there are a couple hills where it would only downshift once and go up with plenty of acceleration and power, it seems that now it needs to down shift twice an still feels somewhat anemic. Anybody have this happen after going in for the recall?

    Theories I've run through:
    1) Drove in limp mode out of a camp site for a while and in order to diganose the issue, maybe this damaged the truck?
    2) They disconnected the battery during the service, so the ECU is relearning my driving habits. But it's been 1000mi (4-5 tanks of gas), should have adjusted already.
    3) During LIMP mode I messed up my cat? not sure if this issue would somehow accelerate the need for a throttle body clean?
    4) Truck hasn't been to the dealer since 25k mi (last free service), maybe at some point there was a TSB for a ECU reflash and they performed it during the recall and this in turn gave me a completely different truck?
    5) During this ordeal I replaced my tires and wheels. Tires are the exact same size and model, wheels are same size and actually feel lighter. Maybe the weight and friction from the extra beef on the new tires is the culprit? Last set lasted around 45K mi so I had gotten used to lees rubber?

Honestly I'm just guessing now, love my truck but this poor performance is killing me. I honestly feel like it hit a wall after the 100k mi since a couple things have been falling apart, but I know these run forever and didn't expect this type of issue. Any ideas?

Update: So the repair was done in about 4 hours, seems to be running fine now. Here is what was replaced.

My CEL is "not" on however my BlueDriver OBDII scan reads a P1604 code. With 125k miles I noticed it pump makes a rather loud noise for several seconds after a cold start. Seems like it's been getting louder with time. Is this the sign of a failing pump?

Good read here... I don’t think it’s a SAIS code.

The CEL and Trac light on my 2012(116000 miles) have been on, I scanned the code and got P02440, 1, and 2 on various scans after clearing it each time. It’s only gone into limp mode once. I finally had a chance to take it to the local Toyota dealer and they called and said that while their scanner was showing the pump codes, there’s a bad wire somewhere between the pump and fuse box that’s preventing them from checking the pump itself. It’ll be $335 to fix the wiring and diagnose the pump. I was on my lunch break and couldn’t ask a lot of questions but does this seem normal? Where do I go from here? I’m new to the Tacoma life and this was not a problem that I was anticipating.
Update: they pulled that one wire somehow and went straight to the fuse box to check the pump. Said it was functioning normal but throwing another code now. I’m absolutely terrible with electrical problems so I’m stumped. Here’s the printout they gave me.

Did anyone else receive a letter that the warranty has been updated to 10 years from service date/unlimited miles? I got mine in the mail today, and I'm happy that I have another four years and I don't have to mind the odometer reading for this anymore. Great for peace of mind.

Nope. Not yet but could iou post a pic? I can ask my dealer about it. Mines been replaced twice. Once under warranty. The other they covered parts and I had to cover labor.

Edit: block out your PII if you do.

I got my second letter from Toyota this past week. Warranty is now for 10 years from first use and for unlimited mileage.

This just happened to my truck this week. I knew nothing about the extended warranty but the local Toyota dealership put me in a rental and said I'm completely covered. Thank God because it would have been about a $2200 bill

My 2014 had the cel and trac off light come on last week and threw the 2441 code. Dealer wants to replace the pump and valves for the paltry sum of $3118CAD or $2375USD. I was actually going to bend over and pay it but after my truck spent a week at the dealership and them still not knowing when they'd get the parts in and reading up on this issue, I figure I might as well try to fix it myself.

I had p2443 pop up on my ultragauge as a “pending” code. It never threw a hard code so I reset it. That was about 500 miles ago and it hasn’t came back.
Nobody really posts the 2443 code (Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Closed Bank 2) so is mine a different deal than what this thread is about?

I know the 13-15 models supposedly had "the fix" via running the pump at startup and shutdown, but if they deny fixing the pump or valves on the 13-15 thats BS. I'm sure they will deny it initially because it's not covered by the warranty, but Toyota needs to come around and do the right thing. Parts and design is defective.

Indeed. Though for me having it warrantied is only part of the issue. I get very remote places and going into limp in the boonies with steep rocky climbs to get back home is not an appealing thought. I’d like to disable the whole dang thing in advance.

I won't hold my breath lol. Might just be bad luck because it doesn't seem like a lot of folks have had this problem with models newer than 2012. Still, having to shell out 3 grand for a part most people haven't even heard of on a 4 year old truck can't be good for repeat business. Anyway, thanks to @nevenelestate for documenting the valve swap process. It was a big help. And I snapped the same two bolts but at least it wasn't a huge surprise.

Get one of these and the DashCommand app or whichever app works with your phone. You'll be able to clear the code to get your truck out of limp mode. Mine went into limp mode leaving work one evening, every vehicle behind me wondered why I was going 20mph, lots of dirty looks were sent my way!
