Only if you buy the extra parts. Their simulators for the valves are $250 a pop. Plus the cost of the plug-n-play unit you're over the cost or close to just buying an HP Tuner.

I have the full kit right down to the simulators. Didn’t realize I could just remove everything from the truck now.

Then yeah, you can. You can even get the headers off a non-sais truck (pre 2012) and swap them so you don't need to plate them. Just verify fitment ahead of time.

Also need the pre 12’ valve cover to make that work.

For what reason? Once the headers are covered, there's nothing else to cover up? Unless you are just trying to get rid of these studs?

Just had my whole SAIS unit removed, didn’t need to a pre ‘12 valve cover.

Could he had meant the gaskets for the headers??

IMG_9315.jpg It’s been over 5 years. I thought I read it on TW somewhere they had to be swapped. I went all the way into the cam gears and to the Y pipe. When I came back out I cleaned everything up.

Hi you all, I know it’s been a long time but I hope you guys are still following this thread. My wife’s ‘06 TRDOR has a blown head gasket, it’s barely weeping into cylinder 4. I am looking at getting an entire wrecked (hit a cow) 2013 Truck and am going to put the engine in the 2006. I realize I am going to have to eliminate the SAIS and cap the header. My question is I shouldn’t have the problem of having to use a turner to reprogram anything right? Since the ‘06 doesn’t have any of that in it? And do you guys think all the other plug ins will plug right in? I’m doing the swap myself and want to make sure I got everything covered. Thanks so much! -Steven

I'm not sure what the engine control differences are, but wouldn't the engine run as normal with your 06 ECU and then just swap the headers over from the 06 to the 13 engine? That should take care of it, but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can chime in.

Honestly, though, a head gasket replacement is a lot easier than swapping a whole engine... Especially if it's barely weeping and you caught it before any overheating.

Just pull the head off, send it to get resurfaced, and buy gaskets. When I did it on my old 99 grand am, I ductaped a straw to the end of a shop vac and sucked out all the fluid in the cylinders and then wiped them down. Once the head was back on with a new gasket I just ran a hose into the coolant reservoir (it was middle of summer) and left the return off the system so it was just dumping. Then ran it for a little to flush it all out. Then emptied and filled with coolant. It ran fine after that till I sold it a few years later. AFAIK it's still somewhere out there with a single mom smoking cigerettes with what ought to be an 8 year old now.
