Secondary Air injection System

    Yes I also have an issue with this system. Codes showing P2442 and P2440. I have read quite a bit about the issue and if what i learned was correct it could be a faulty air injection valve, one way check valve, pump, pressure sensor, vacume switching valve or just bad wiring. Is there a method to determine the actual part of the system that is failing. I have pulled the pump and attached a current to it and it worked fine so i was thinking of ruling that out.

    If you have the codes, why don't you just bring it to the dealer for warranty replacement?


    Edit: I'm assuming you're aware of the extended warranty since you said you've been reading threads on the issue. If not - Toyota has an extended warranty for 2012 models for this exact issue. If you bring it in they'll replace the valves and the pump free. Check the link in the post below mine for more info.

    i was not aware that the dealership would replace the pump and valves for free. The threads I read were dated and said that there was no warranty for the Tacoma but was for the Tundra. I am so glad to hear this. I thought i was in for a $1000 job. That was why I was asking about determining the exact cause of the issue. I am most happy that i joined this site. You all have been very helpful and i am most appreciative.

    Couldn't have been any easier at the dealer. Although I hadn't purchased the truck there they replaced the parts in a couple of days after confirming the issue. NO CHARGE at all. Rockingham Toyota of Salem NH was wonderful. i was really impressed!
