Ordered my filter yesterday. Hope this will push off the need for a bypass.

I am hoping that is a long term fix too.

This fix is only 1/2 the problem and seems like its more of the long term issue with the filter coming apart once some age is on it. The short term failure is the valves that we are having trouble with, those go bad at relatively low mileage 30-60k is about the most common range I have seen posted, the bypass is your only hope there.

from what i have seen the valves get gummed up due to the filter material deteriorating and mucking with them. Also on the 2012's they dont have a shutdown purge of the pump which causes moisture buildup and messes with the valves as well.

Yes the 13'up trucks purge at shutdown for a brief moment, my valves failed at 53k..foam fan filter 100% intact. Moisture I believe is the main culprit for the failure of the valves, the rubber around my valves on the rear most one was completely deteriorated. Others have posted pictures with similar results, not sure if its the moisture causing that rubber to come apart or its just an inferior part.

I'm not saying this filter wont help, I'm just informing others that this isn't a cure all. Its just one pre cautionary measure on an extremely flawed system...Thanks Toyota!!

I agree. I took mine apart and filter was in great condition. I will change it out anyhow. But, if that prevents my pump from failing thats a good thing. If my valves fail, I will replace them. Then, buy the bypass. But so far, my 2012 is at 86k miles and system has had no issues(yet).
