    lol yes :)

I just pulled the new filter and blew thru it, of course it flows freely. Took off the cover and the impeller turns freely also. Went for a ride and the truck runs fine, isn't it supposed to go into limp mode? Fortunately it isn't.

I also tried to reset the code, no luck. :annoyed:

The VSC light is also on. Pushing the VSC button will turn on the 'off' light, but the warning light stays on.

I'm stuck on what to do now. :(

I think your understanding of it is a little bit off.
This pump ONLY runs when the engine is COLD. Right when you start it up. You can hear it run, and when the engine switches into normal running mode (idle speed drops), the pump shuts off.

What it is doing is THIS: When the engine is cold, it is given EXTRA FUEL -- running very rich. So what it is doing, is throwing a whole bunch extra air into the exhaust system which has zero oxygen and a whole lot of un-burnt hydrocarbons, in order to burn off those hydrocarbons.

Once the engine warms up, the oxygen going in balances with the fuel, so you have a clean and complete burn, so it shuts off.

So the reality is that an exhaust probe emissions test WILL NOT detect whether or not this component is *actually* working, since it is *already warm*.

The only thing I can think of, is to put everything back the way it was (foam filter instead of external filter), disconnect the battery for a few minutes to clear the code, and then see if the code reappears.

    Too few to list.
I don't think the pump is your problem. You're valves are most likely stuck and clearing the codes will not help as it will pop back up right way. Try it.

My understanding on it's theory of operation while running is up to date. I know how engines run when cold. Thank you for further specifying and explaining it in a way I couldn't communicate it to the others, but me myself has known how these have worked for quite some time now.

    - Faulty Pressure Sensor - Pressure Sensor harness is open or shorted - Pressure Sensor circuit poor electrical connection

    Read more: http://www.autocodes.com/p2432_toyota.html

I reread the code explanation. Looks like I need to find the pressure sensor and check it out. I also noticed just now some mouse footprints in the dust under the hood. I'll check the wiring, and the cats a gonna get an ass chewin'.

Mods, should I start my own thread before I derail this one any further, or not?

Go for it. Might as well post up what you've found then put a link to the thread in here for those that are following what you're doing.

Well, I'm wore out. My buddy and me went over the truck from head to toe. Didn't find anything. I'll start a new thread tomorrow. Right now I'm going to have supper and a drink or three.

@Jimmyh Would you possibly have a electrical drawing of this system? That might be a huge help.

I'm waiting for someone to show a picture of the Uni Filter with a TRD emblem glued on. An easy +5HP LOL

Thanks for the info OP. Out of curiosity I checked my 2015 (which had the cover) and the filter had some filth/dust on it so it's doing its job. Is it worth replacing the factory foam filter with the uni filter if I only have 18k?

And for people who had valve failure or pump failure, did your tacoma come with the factory cover?

This is the setup for a 2.7L four banger, The V6 is probably the same with two valves instead of just one:
