. That’s the right data sheet. I buy it for undercoating. I have been buying it by the gal. The small amount I use to moisten the foam is not a concern for me. Foam is also made from petroleum products, thus the problem with it drying out and breaking down. It’s safe for automotive seals and electric wiring and rubber tubing under vehicles. I’m sure there are other products one could use to lube the foam, the FF was just my choice since I have been using it, and it know it will retain its liquid form and not dry out. True foam filter lube has petroleum products in it also and they actually require a solvent to clean where you can clean FF 100% with soapy water and that tells me it’s a pretty mild product.

Installed a CAI today and relocated the secondary air pump to make room. Took the opportunity to throw my Uni Filter on. I have the stock foam filter and the plastic 'water guard' up for grabs if anyone wants them. You pay shipping.

Do what you want, but if it was me I would hold on to the guard and just toss the filter.

The question begs to be asked....How the heck does this old cheap foam break the fins on the pump? Is that pump so inferior? - There's some disparity on the cost of this pump in this thread, What makes this piece of crap so expensive? and if its so prone to failure, why hasn't Toyota have a fix for it....Now I will answer my own question....Manufactures have no regard to their customers or following....They know the failures will take place long after the warrantee is expired. They could care less about the cost factors as their not paying, we are. Now I know I will get stoned on this but the Tacoma is an OK truck, I have a 2014, 4 banger that I bought new & it has about 3000 miles on it. its a 4X4 A/T, I find its very under powered, the pay load leaves to be desired. I don't drive it it the snow or salt for fear of the frame rotting out, and now I have to worry about some stupid pump that can explode from cheap foam fragments? - The panic on this thread with trucks with less that 100,000 miles has everyone running to Amazon for a $16.00 fix.... and by the way, to get intermittent wipers, I had to install a Corolla switch in my driveway, as the dealer told me that intermittent wipers were not available as an option on a base truck.......That was in 2014, If I remember correctly a 1980 Chevy Citation, had intermittent wipers..... I just think its so sad.... end rant......

Correct. Mine still failed a year after throwing a uni-filter in there. It’s nothing more that a false sense of security. I don’t blame folks though. It’s human nature to try to do something. Tough to sit back and wait for the inevitable.

Well said, cheap China made foam breaks up, gets sucked into the fins, destroying pump. It's made this way on purpose. Now you fix it or trade in your truck. Toyota's suck, but I stull love my POS.

I have a 2012, 4x4, dbl Cab Taco, and just this past week received a notice from Toyota regarding The Air Injection Pumps and Air Switching Valves. It basically extends the Warranty Period. The Primary coverage is applicable until Feb 28, 2019 with no year/mileage limitations. After the primary coverage period ends, The Secondary Coverage applies for 10 years from the date of first use or 150,000 miles whichever comes first. If the pump is defective you should experience The Check Engine Light to illuminate. It goes on to say that if you previously spent out of pocket money to make this repair you could be reimbursed. BTW-The notice is not specific to any year. It just states "Customer Support Program Notification-ZHA". Hope this helps. Good Luck

Where can I buy a new foam piece? Mine has 125k miles on it and looks brown and kind of crunchy feeling.

I've looked all over the engine bay to no avail, and also cannot find the part for my model.
    Really confused at this point...haha.
