I've been using 90 Octane Non Ethanol for most of the summer and you can tell the difference. The truck performs great. I purchase it at shell but on the pump it states it not a shell product. It's been 279 a gallon for quite a while. Before that I ran Shell 89 Octane with 10% Ethanol.

This is my pump and filter. Everything looks good. I will be getting the suggested filter. Thanks.

Does that plastic cover over the pump (2013) just unclip and come off? I see the two clips which I undid but it didn't ease off and I didnt want to force it. I'm assuming once the covers removed it exposes the single screw.

Exhausted gas does not pass through the valve, only air from engine bay. So it does not have any thing to do with gas grade. I believe environment
has bigger effect on it. I clean my engine once a year. My pump is clean when opened. 65K as now and always use 87(95% of the time).

I clean my engine bay all the time as you can see in the photo. I've never covered anything on any of my cars. Never had an issue. Although mine was clean and dry, I'd rather be safe and prevent any future issues.

One thing I did notice when mine first threw the codes - the clamp was slid down on the hose that runs to the pump. This leads me to believe that an issue with the pump had either been identified by the previous owner, or by the dealership I bought it from. Luckily, if I feel the need to seek answers, the previous owner forgot to delete their home address from the nav system before trading in the truck... ;)

That's the bitch with modern technology. Not only do you have to remember to clean out the glovebox and eject any CD that may be left in the stereo, but you have to unsync any devices and delete the phonebook, navi waypoints, etc.

Dealer trade in..it was on the lot for a whopping 4 days before I snatched it up...it's very hard to find a unmodified and clean used double cab trd anything in norcal. I guess dealer had enough time to spit on the exterior and blow on the interior o_O

Haha....Could be partially my fault as I insisted on walking away that day with it with my price...I had been looking for a decent double trd or for about 6 months and I refused to buy a 3rd gen until someday, toyota or aftermarket, can lower that absurdly high torque peak:annoyed:

Combustion still happens and carbon still passes that way. The valves for example will be effected by any excess carbon. And I specifically mentioned I didn't need grade(octane rating) of gas, just brand.

Are you still leaving the foam filter inside for this?
