I am planning on traveling across the country and I have a bike and a river kayak I am taking in the bed. I am concerned about someone taking something while sleeping at a camp site just outside of Denver or Colorado Springs.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do to lock my bike and kayak to the bed?

I am using NRS straps to secure them while on the road. I tried looking for lockable bed rail cleats but couldn’t find anything(maybe I’m not looking hard enough).

    I don’t have a topper currently.

Run a cable lock through them and attach at the bed tie down d ring? You could do a cable lock like the ones that feed into themselves to make a loop or do a steel cable with loops on the end and a pad lock.

The factory D rings could probably be cut with a pair of dull side cutters. The Dodge sprinter D rings installed under the bed bolts are the best tie downs, but could still be cut with cheap bolt cutters.

Install bed stiffeners and accomplish 2 things.
    1. Reinforce the bed sides
    2. Provide nuclear lockdown and tie down points.
