Anyone have any advice for alternate methods of securing a SnugTop Hiliner? The OEM bolts in the topper are secured through small clips with nuts, but even driving the street I find myself having to tighten them about every 4 to 6 weeks or they work their way off and rattle around the bed.

I'm not terribly happy with the clips either as they just pinch the top of the cargo rails instead of a carriage that fits into the slot. I've thought about drilling through the topper base and into the tops of the side rails but was advised against that.

Anyone else having this issue or have advice on how to secure it better (short of Loc-Tite on the nuts and bolts that is).

Picture of the clips and how it secures the cap to the bed?

What @fredgoodsell posted may work for you. They are what are used on my Leer 100xq. Distance from edge of the rail to the center of the bolt is 3/8".

I don't want the clamps, I want something that is more secure than the clips and less likely to work itself loose on rough terrain. I may be giving those guys a call to figure out if they'll work! Thanks!

try running a second nut up against the first one... I know you want a different piece of hardware, but that is the $1 temporary patch. that or a nylon lock nut.

This is another option @EatMeImATaco. My snugtop in my previous truck had the same clamps as in your photos. They were also installed with a second locknut, and it never loosened on me.
