People find the strangest things to worry about. Dying in a fiery crash because of window tinting?! Y'all need to get out more.

Seems like the more realistic problem is crack heads doing a smash and grab. I've had tinted windows for years, yet to die in a crash, but you never know. OP I'd do it, but if you die in a crash somebody above will tell you they told you so.

Well... I was looking for suggestions. I was hoping someone had already put it on their truck. I’m not much worried about my stuff getting stolen as I am my windows getting smashed in easily. It takes me 8 seconds to get from my bed to my truck. If you smashed car windows before, you have an idea of how much force it takes to bust a window (which means you’re not going Barry Bonds on each swing). Well after swinging at mine 2 times,(my alarm pages me) you re-evaluate your stance and swing force, by that time you got about 2 seconds left before I get a swing in. Still able to break it. Just got to put a little more Barry with your swing. Window shatters into a million pieces. You slide out of shattered window with minor cuts and scrapes. And honestly, rolling truck will probably take care of all the windows anyway

Yea...but at the end of the day you're still paying for a smashed window and more security film.

    I dont see the point

Ok, speaking from a somewhat related experience. My Fiancé’s business was subject to a smash and grab robbery. They threw a big rock at a window that had this feature. When it didn’t cave, they kept throwing rocks until they found a window that caved. They did about $5k in window damage and managed to steal $20 in change (they also damaged a receipt printer and cash drawer for another $500).

Edit: we replaced the windows with standard windows. What are you protecting?

Only if he made it through. He may give up after 2 hits. I saw this video a few years ago, this dude is walking up to cars smashing windows (while someone with him is recording this)in a parking lot and going through their belongings. He came up to an suv and after a few swings to the window, moved on to the next car and the video went on. Take into account, the thing he had for smashing windows wasn’t exactly a crowbar, (because who walks around with one of those all the time) it was something that would easily break 99% of the car windows out there and small enough to conceal. My buddy used to steal cars when he was younger. Just because you have a club on your steering wheel doesn’t make your car steal proof. It just makes the thief move on to an easier target. After a couple swings, “maybe I go try those windows on the Avalanche over there”?

Just my truck windows. Making them stronger and not get through easily without getting cut.

My point is... the truck windows are likely the highest cost. If they keep breaking windows to get at very little, you just cost yourself more money (or possible the insurance company).

If you want to cut them put razors on top of the glass and leave them 2/3 down.

Well the film only hits me at 25 bucks roll. I think it’s enough to do all my windows twice. I don’t see anybody continuously smashing all the cars windows just to get through. Now a business I can see that happening. There’s a lot more to grab in a building. Most buildings here have that laminated glass window near exit doors and doors themselves for fire safety reasons. Probably the first windows those guys busted. Horrible idea for a business, yes, I agree. But if you’re walking by my truck and see a rock the size of a softball, that’s a quick smash and grab on my truck. What if you threw that rock straight at my window twice and nothing happened because of that film? You wanna hang out for a while so I can show you my gun? Hell nah! You’re gonna run down the block and try again on someone else vehicle. Now I’m not saying it’s indestructible, just a lot harder to get through. And hey, maybe next time this guy won’t even bother with my truck cuz he’ll probably need something a little bigger

Well, you have convinced yourself it is worth it. To me, the window is still broke. I don’t keep anything of value in the cab, myself.

Well, a few of us. I try not to leave anything either. Once at a concert at shoreline, in the parking lot at this huge event, a few cars including mine got smashed into. I noticed it was cars parked right next to each other. Meaning, they didn’t look, they just smashed. Didn’t leave anything in there. They didn’t take anything. Window was smashed anyway. Had it been reinforced, I would have went home a happier person. And IF they did get through, all I’m losing out on is like 3 dollars worth of tint.

Doesn’t all window tint do what you are asking? It won’t make the windows stronger but tint will hold the shattered glass together. I mean the tint is adhered to the windows.
