Security light stays on/won't start

Got an 03 tacoma, starter clicks but won't turn over. The security light stays on so I'm thinking my alarm is messed up. Don't know where to go from here

Try unplugging brain of alarm see if it starts.

Dead battery? Or bad battery.

Dead starter?

Ignition kill/immobilizer on an alarm should not allow any current to the starter.

If it turns out to be the alarm, I'd trash can it. Can't tell you how many problems I've seen them cause....... and can't recall anyone saying their vehicle was 'saved' because of it.
